ਆਰਮੇਨੀਆਈ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਭਾਰੋਪੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਮੇਸੋਪੋਟੈਮਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਕਸ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਕਾਰਲਾ ਘਾਟੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲੇ ਸਾਗਰ ਦੇ ਦੱਖਣ ਪੂਰਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੋਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਜਾਰਜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਅਜਰਬੈਜਾਨ ( ਜਵਾਬ - ਪੱਛਮ ਵਾਲਾ ਈਰਾਨ ) ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਵੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੱਛਮ ਵਾਲਾ ਭੱਜਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡਿਆ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗਠਨ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਵਲੋਂ ਇਸਦੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਗਰੀਕ ਅਤੇ ਹਿੰਦ - ਈਰਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਸਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਰਮੀਨਿਆ ਦਾ ਈਰਾਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਘਨਿਸ਼ਠ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਈਰਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਆਮਤੌਰ : ਦੋ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਾਰਣਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਈਰਾਨੀ ਦੀ ਕੇਵਲ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਾਖਾ ਸਿਰਫ ਸੱਮਝਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ। ਉੱਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਇਸਦੀ ਆਜਾਦ ਸੱਤਾ ਆਦਰ ਯੋਗ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਂਚਵੀਂ ਸ਼ਤਾਬਦੀ ਈ . ਦੇ ਪੂਰਵ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਗਰੰਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ। ਇਸ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦਾ ਵਿਅੰਜਨਸਮੂਹ ਮੂਲ ਰੂਪ ਵਲੋਂ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਕੇਸ਼ੀ ਸਮੂਹ ਦੀ ਜਾਰਜੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਜੁਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ‌ ਤ‌ ਕ‌ ਵਿਅੰਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਬ‌ ਦ ਗ‌ ਵਲੋਂ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਦਲ-ਬਦਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਦਾਹਰਣ ਵਜੋਂ, ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਵਸ ਲਈ ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਸਨ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੈ। ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਪਿਤ੍ਰ ਲਈ ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿਅਰ ਹੈ। ਆਦਿਮ ਭਾਰੋਪੀਏ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਇਹ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਦੂਰ ਜਾ ਪਈ ਹੈ। ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੋ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਲਈ ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਏਰਕੁ ਅਤੇ ਏਰੇਖ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰੀ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਮਾਨ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਵਿਆਕਰਣਾਤਮਕ ਲਿੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਾਚੀਨ ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ। ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਗਾਂ ਲਈ ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੇਵ‌ ਹੈ। ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਹੀ ਆਦਿ ਆਦਿਮ ਆਰਿਆਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਇਸਦੀ ਵਿਉਤਪਤੀ ਸਿੱਧ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਜਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਬੋਲ-ਚਾਲ ਦੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਈਰਾਨੀ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਰੀਕ, ਅਰਬਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਕੇਸ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹਨ।

ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਦਾ ਜੋ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਚੀਨ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਸੀ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਈਸਾਈ ਪਾਦਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਚੌਥੀ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਂਚਵੀਂ ਈ . ਸ਼ਤਾਬਦੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਕੁੱਝ ਹੀ ਸਮਾਂ ਪੂਰਵ ਅਸ਼ੋਕ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਅਭਿਲੇਖ ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੰਭਵਤ : ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪੁਰਾਨਾ ਨਮੂਨਾ ਹੈ। ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਲਿਪੀ ਪੰਜਵੀ ਈਸਵੀ ਸ਼ਤਾਬਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੜੀ ਗਈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਾਈਬਲ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਵਾਦ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਈਸਾਈ ਧਰਮਪ੍ਰਚਾਰਕ ਗਰੰਥ ਲਿਖੇ ਗਏ। ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਸ਼ਤਾਬਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਗਰੀਕ ਦੇ ਵੀ ਕੁੱਝ ਗਰਥੋਂ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਵਾਦ ਹੋਇਆ। ਇਸ ਸ਼ਤਾਬਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਫਾਉਸਤੁਸ ਨਾਮਕ ਇੱਕ ਗਰੰਥ ਚੌਥੀ ਸ਼ਤਾਬਦੀ ਦੀ ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਪਰਿਸਥਿਤੀ ਦਾ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਚਿਤਰਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਰਮੀਨਿਆ ਦੇ ਛੋਟੇ - ਛੋਟੇ ਨਰੇਸ਼ੋਂ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰਾਂ, ਰਾਜਨੀਤਕ ਸੰਗਠਨ, ਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੜਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਈਸਾਈ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਇਤਹਾਸ ਅੰਕਿਤ ਹੈ। ਐਲਿਸਏਉਸ ਵਰਦਪੈਤ ਨੇ ਵਰਦਨ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਇਤਹਾਸ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਰਮੀਨਯੋਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਸਾਨੀਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਜੋ ਧਰਮਯੁੱਧ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਉਸਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਹੈ। ਖੌਰੈਨ ਦੇ ਮੋਜੇਜ ਨੇ ਆਰਮੀਨਿਆ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਇਤਹਾਸ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ੪੫੦ ਈਸਵੀ ਤੱਕ ਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਗਰੰਥ ਸੰਭਵਤ : ਸੱਤਵੀਂ ਸ਼ਤਾਬਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਅਠਵੀਂ ਸ਼ਤਾਬਦੀ ਵਲੋਂ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਆਰਮੀਨਿਆ ਦੇ ਗਰੰਥ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਇਤਹਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਧੰਮ੍ਰਿ ਵਲੋਂ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।

੧੯ਵੀਂ ਸ਼ਤਾਬਦੀ ਦੇ ਮਧਿਅਭਾਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਰਮੀਨਿਆ ਦੇ ਰੂਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਰਕੀ ਜਿਲੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਨਵੀਂ ਸਾਹਿਤਿਅਕ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਨਿਕਲੀ। ਇਸ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਦੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਚੀਨ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਵਿਆਕਰਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਥੇਰਾ ਭਿੰਨ ਹੈ, ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਵਲੀ ਆਮਤੌਰ : ਪੁਰਾਣੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਨਵੀਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਰੇ ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਵਿਤਾ, ਉਪੰਨਿਆਸ, ਡਰਾਮਾ, ਚੁਹਲਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਆਦਿ ਬਥੇਰਾ ਮਾਤਰਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਆਰਮੀਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੱਤਰ -ਪਤਰਿਕਾਵਾਂਵੀ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਕਲੀ ਹਨ। ਸੋਵਾਇਟ ਸੰਘ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਨੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਤੇਜੀ ਵਲੋਂ ਉੱਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।

Although Armenian has no legal status in Samtske-Javakheti, it is widely spoken by the Armenian population, which is concentrated in Ninotsminda and Akhalkalaki districts (over 90% of the total population in these two districts).[8] The Georgian government fully funds around 144 Armenian school in the region (as of 2010).[9][10]

Various state government agencies in California provide Armenian translations of their documents, namely the California Department of Social Services,[11] California Department of Motor Vehicles,[12] California superior courts.[13] In the city of Glendale, there are street signs in Armenian.[14][15]
