ਬੁੱਧ (0.4 AU) ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਛੋਟਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕ ਵਾਲਾ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸੂਰਜ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਚੱਕਰ ੮੮ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਰਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਦੋ ਸੂਰਜ ਦੇ ਚੱਕਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਿੰਨ ਵਾਰ ਘੁੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬੁੱਧ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਉਪਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਮਲੂਮ ਭੂ-ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਮੁਹਾਂਦਰਾ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਉਤੇ ਉਲਕਿਆਂ (ਟੁਟੇ ਤਾਰੇ) ਦਿਆਂ ਟੱਕਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਟੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਬਦਾਰ ਵੱਟਾਂ ਪੈਇਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ।[੧] ਬੁੱਧ ਦਾ ਬੇਲੋਡ਼ਾ ਵਾਯੂ ਮੰਡਲ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਤੋਂ, ਸੂਰਜੀ ਹਵਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਰਨ, ਬਲਾਸਟ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਅਣੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।[੨] ਇਸ ਦਾ ਲੋਹੇ ਦਾ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਭਾਗ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਪਰਤ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਹ ਅਨੁਮਾਨ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਪਰਤ ਸੂਰਜੀ ਊਰਜਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰਾਂ ਬਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਂ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਪਰਤ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਉਲਕੇ ਦੀ ਟੁਕਰ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਥ ਗਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ।[੩][੪]
