ਗ੍ਰਿਸੇਲਡਾ ਪੋਲੋਕ (ਜਨਮ 11 ਮਾਰਚ 1949)[1] ਇੱਕ ਦਿੱਖ ਸਾਸ਼ਤਰੀ, ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਵਿਸ਼ਲੇਸ਼ਕ ਅਤੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ ਕਲਾ ਦੀ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ, ਉੱਤਰ-ਬਸਤੀਵਾਦੀ ਨਾਰੀਵਾਦੀ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਹੈ। ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ ਅਧਾਰਿਤ ਲੇਖਿਕਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਸਿਧਾਂਤਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਧੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਨਵੀਨਤਾ ਵਜੋਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਕਾਲੀ ਕਲਾ, ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਸਿਧਾਂਤ 'ਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। 1977 ਤੋਂ ਲੈਕੇ, ਪੋਲੋਕ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ, ਐਵਾਂ ਗਾਰਦ ਕਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਤਰ-ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਕਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਕਾਲੀ ਕਲਾ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਹੈ। ਉਸ 'ਤੇ ਨਾਰੀਵਾਦੀ ਸਿਧਾਂਤ, ਨਾਰੀਵਾਦੀ ਕਲਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਜੈਂਡਰ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਵੱਡਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਹੈ।[2]

ਜੀਵਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਮ[ਸੋਧੋ]

ਪੋਲੋਕ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਦੱਖਣੀ ਅਫ਼ਰੀਕਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਰਵਰਿਸ਼ ਫ਼ਰਾਂਸ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਈ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਸ਼ੋਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਬ੍ਰਿਟੇਨ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ, ਪੋਲੋਕ ਨੇ ਆਕਸਫ਼ੋਰਡ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤੀ (1967-1970) ਅਤੇ ਕੋਰਟੌਲਡ ਇੰਸਟੀਚਿਉਟ ਆਫ਼ ਆਰਟ ਵਿੱਖੇ ਕਲਾ ਦਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਐਨ (1970-72) ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਸ ਨੇ 1980 ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਨਸੰਟ ਵੈਨ ਗਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਡੱਚ ਆਰਟ: ਏ ਰੀਡਿੰਗ ਆਫ਼ ਹਿਜ਼ ਨੋਸ਼ਨਸ ਆਫ਼ ਦ ਮਾਡਰਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਡਾਕਟਰੇਟ ਦੀ ਡਿਗਰੀ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਆਪਣੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਹ 1977 ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਡਸ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਕਲਾ ਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਦਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੀ ਲੈਕਚਰਾਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ 1990 ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਲਾ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੀਖਿਆ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਚੁਣੀ ਗਈ। 2001 ਵਿੱਚ, ਉਹ ਲੀਡਸ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਵਿਸ਼ਲੇਸ਼ਣ, ਸਿਧਾਂਤ ਅਤੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ  ਦੀ ਡਾਇਰੇਕਟਰ ਬਣੀ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਹ ਕਲਾ ਦੇ ਸਮਜਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੀਖਿਆ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਹੈ।[3]
