ਮੈਰੀ ਡੋਰਸੀ (ਜਨਮ 1950) ਇਕ ਆਇਰਿਸ਼ ਕਵੀਤਰੀ, ਨਾਵਲਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਲਘੂ ਕਹਾਣੀਕਾਰ ਹੈ। ਉਸਦੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿ "ਏ ਨੋਇਜ਼ ਫ੍ਰਾਮ ਦ ਵੂਡਸ਼ੇਡ" ਲਈ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਇਰਿਸ਼ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਦਾ ਰੂਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਇਜ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।

ਉਹ ਆਇਰਲੈਂਡ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਔਰਤ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਇਰਲੈਂਡ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ 'ਤੇ ਸਮਲਿੰਗੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਬੋਲਿਆ।

ਡੋਰਸੀ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਆਇਰਲੈਂਡ ਦੇ ਕਾਉਂਟੀ ਡਬਲਿਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਅਓਸਦਾਨਾ ਦੀ ਆਇਰਿਸ਼ ਅਕੈਡਮੀ ਆਫ਼ ਆਰਟਸ ਐਂਡ ਲੈਟਰਜ਼ ਦੀ ਪੀਅਰ ਚੋਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਹੈ। ਉਸਦੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਆਇਰਲੈਂਡ ਅਤੇ ਪੈਰਿਸ ਡਾਈਡਰੋਟ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਓਪਨ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਟ੍ਰਿਨਿਟੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਡਬਲਿਨ[1] ਵਿਖੇ ਇੱਕ ਰਿਸਰਚ ਐਸੋਸੀਏਟ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਦਸ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਜੈਂਡਰ ਅਤੇ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਦੇ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੇਖਕ ਰਹੀ, ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਉਸਨੇ ਸਮਕਾਲੀ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੈਮੀਨਾਰ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਰਚਨਾਤਮਕ ਲੇਖਣ ਦੀ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਸਨੇ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਡਬਲਿਨ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਕੂਲ ਫਾਰ ਜਸਟਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਇਆ ਹੈ।[2][3]

ਉਸਨੇ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਛੇ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿ, ਇੱਕ ਨਾਵਲ, ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟੀਆਂ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਨਾਵਲ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ।[4]

ਡੌਰਸੀ ਆਇਰਿਸ਼ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਔਰਤ ਸੀ (1974 ਤੋਂ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ), ਜਿਸਨੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਗਤ ਅਤੇ ਛਾਪਣ ਵਿਚ, ਸਾਰੇ ਆਇਰਲੈਂਡ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੱਧਰ ਤੇ ਐਲ.ਜੀ.ਬੀ.ਟੀ.ਆਈ. ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਕਾਲਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਹ ਆਇਰਿਸ਼ ਵੂਮਨ ਯੂਨਾਈਟਿਡ, ਵਿਮਨ ਫਾਰ ਰੈਡੀਕਲ ਚੇਂਜ ਅਤੇ ਦ ਮੂਵਮੈਂਟ ਫਾਰ ਸੈਕਸੁਅਲ ਲਿਬਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਬਾਨੀ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਸੀ।[5][6]

ਉਹ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਜ, ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ, ਫਰਾਂਸ, ਸਪੇਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਪਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਥੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।[7][8]

ਡੋਰਸੀ ਨੇ 1990 ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿੰਨੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਏ ਨੋਇਸ ਫਰੌਮ ਦ ਵੁੱਡਸ਼ੈੱਡ ਲਈ ਰੂਨੀ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ ਆਇਰਿਸ਼ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਲਈ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ।[9][10][3] ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਵਲ 'ਬਾਇਓਗ੍ਰਾਫੀ ਆਫ਼ ਡਿਜ਼ਾਇਰ' ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਧੀਆ ਬਿਕਰੀ ਰਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਆਲੋਚਨਾਤਮਕ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ੰਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਇਰਿਸ਼ ਟਾਈਮਜ਼ ਦੀ ਸਮੀਖਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ 'ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਕਾਮੁਕ ਆਇਰਿਸ਼ ਨਾਵਲ' ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।[10]

2010 ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੀਅਰ ਚੋਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ AOSDANA ਲਈ ਆਨਰੇਰੀ ਆਇਰਿਸ਼ ਅਕੈਡਮੀ ਆਫ਼ ਆਰਟਸ ਐਂਡ ਲੈਟਰਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਵੀ ਨੁਆਲਾ ਨੀ ਧੋਮਹਨੇਲ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਵਲਕਾਰ ਯੂਜੀਨ ਮੈਕਕੇਬ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
