ਬੇਮੇਲ ਵਿਆਹ, ਰੂਸੀ ਕਲਾਕਾਰ ਪੁਕੀਰੇਵ ਵੱਲੋਂ 19ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਦੀ ਪੇਂਟਿੰਗ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਜ਼ਬਰਨ ਵਿਆਹ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਮੁਟਿਆਰ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ਼ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮਜਬੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਚਾਹੇ ਜਾਂ ਨਾ।

ਵਿਉਂਤਬੱਧ ਵਿਆਹ ਜਾਂ ਅਰੇਂਜਡ ਮੈਰਿਜ (ਹੋਰ ਨਾਂ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਮੀ/ਵਿਚੋਲਵਾਂ/ਤਰਕੀਬੀ ਵਿਆਹ ਹਨ) ਅਜਿਹਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਾੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਲਾੜੀ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਇੱਕ-ਦੂਜੇ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਏ ਕਿਸੇ ਤੀਜੀ ਧਿਰ (ਵਿਚੋਲਾ) ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।[1] ਇਹ ਰੀਤ 18ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਤੱਕ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਮ ਸੀ[1] ਅਜੋਕੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੱਖਣੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ, ਅਫ਼ਰੀਕਾ,[2][3] ਮੱਧ ਪੂਰਬ,[4][5] ਲਾਤੀਨੀ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ,[3][6] ਦੱਖਣ-ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ[7] ਅਤੇ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਦੇ ਹਿੱਸਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਚੱਲਤ ਹੈ;[8][9] ਹੋਰ ਵਿਕਸਤ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਕੁਝ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਖ਼ਾਨਦਾਨਾਂ,[10] ਜਪਾਨ ਦੇ ਹਿੱਸਿਆਂ,[11] ਪਰਵਾਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਘੱਟ-ਗਿਣਤੀ ਨਸਲੀ ਜੁੱਟਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।[12]ਅਜਿਹੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਚੋਲਾ ਇੱਕ ਅਹਿਮ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਅਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਲਾੜਾ ਅਤੇ ਲਾੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਵਿਚ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਣ ਲਈ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।ਅੱਜ-ਕੱਲ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੇ ਬਦਲਣ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਉਂਤਬੱਧ ਵਿਆਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਬਦੀਲੀਆਂ ਆਈਆਂ ਹਨ।
