ਜੈਸਮੀਨ ਸਾਂਬੈਕ ( ਅਰਬੀਅਨ ਜੈਸਮੀਨ ਜਾਂ ਸਾਂਬੈਕ ਜੈਸਮੀਨ )[1] ਭਾਰਤੀ ਉਪ ਮਹਾਂਦੀਪ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਦੱਖਣ-ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਤੱਕ ਫੈਲੀ, ਗਰਮ ਖੰਡੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਸਦੀ ਜੈਸਮੀਨ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਜਾਤੀ ਹੈ।[2][3] ਇਸਦੀ ਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਖਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਦੱਖਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੱਖਣ-ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਹਿੱਸਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ। ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਖਿੰਡੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ- ਮਾਰੀਸ਼ਸ, ਮੈਡਾਗਾਸਕਰ, ਮਾਲਦੀਵ, ਕ੍ਰਿਸਮਸ ਆਈਲੈਂਡ, ਚਿਆਪਾਸ, ਮੱਧ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ, ਦੱਖਣੀ ਫਲੋਰੀਡਾ, ਬਹਾਮਾਸ, ਕਿਊਬਾ, ਹਿਸਪੈਨੀਓਲਾ, ਜਮੈਕਾ, ਪੋਰਟੋ ਰੀਕੋ, ਅਤੇ ਘੱਟ ਐਂਟੀਲਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ।[4] [5][6]

ਜੈਸਮੀਨਮ ਸਾਂਬੈਕ ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟੀ ਝਾੜੀ ਜਾਂ ਵੇਲ ਹੈ ਜੋ 0.5 to 3 m (1.6 to 9.8 ft) ਤੱਕ ਵਧਦੀ ਹੈ । ਇਸਦੇ ਆਕਰਸ਼ਕ ਅਤੇ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਵਾਲੇ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਲਈ ਇਸਦੀ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਜੈਸਮੀਨ ਚਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਸੁਗੰਧਿਤ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਭਾਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਮੋਗਰਾ ਵਜੋਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਫਿਲੀਪੀਨਜ਼ ਦਾ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਫੁੱਲ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਇਸਨੂੰ sampaguita ਵਜੋਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,[7] ਅਤੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਇੰਡੋਨੇਸ਼ੀਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਇਸਨੂੰ melati Putih ਵਜੋਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਜੈਸਮੀਨਮ ਸਾਂਬੈਕ ਇੱਕ ਸਦਾਬਹਾਰ ਵੇਲ ਜਾਂ ਝਾੜੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦੀ ਲੰਬਾਈ 0.5 to 3 m (1.6 to 9.8 ft) ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਦੀ ਹੈ।[8] ਇਹ ਕਿਸਮ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਪਰਿਵਰਤਨਸ਼ੀਲ ਹੈ, ਸੰਭਵ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਸੁਭਾਵਿਕ ਪਰਿਵਰਤਨ, ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਹਾਈਬ੍ਰਿਡਾਈਜ਼ੇਸ਼ਨ, ਅਤੇ ਆਟੋਪੋਲੀਪਲੋਇਡੀ ਦਾ ਨਤੀਜਾ ਹੈ। ਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਜੈਸਮੀਨਮ ਸਾਂਬੈਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਮ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਬੀਜ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਪੌਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਕਟਿੰਗਜ਼, ਲੇਅਰਿੰਗ, ਮਾਰਕੌਟਿੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਅਲੌਕਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।[9][10][11]

ਪੱਤੇ ਅੰਡਾਕਾਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, 4 to 12.5 cm (1.6 to 4.9 in) ਲੰਬੇ ਅਤੇ 2 to 7.5 cm (0.79 to 2.95 in) ਚੌੜੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਫਾਈਲੋਟੈਕਸੀ ਉਲਟ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਤਿੰਨ, ਸਧਾਰਨ (ਪਿੰਨੇਟ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਹੋਰ ਜੈਸਮੀਨਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ) ਹੈ।[12] ਪੱਤੇ ਦੇ ਅਧਾਰ 'ਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਵਾਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਨਿਰਵਿਘਨ (ਚਮਕਦਾਰ) ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। [13]

ਫੁੱਲ ਸਾਰਾ ਸਾਲ ਖਿੜਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਟਾਹਣੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰਿਆਂ 'ਤੇ ਇਕੱਠੇ 3 ਤੋਂ 12 ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।[14] ਉਹ ਜ਼ੋਰਦਾਰ ਖੁਸ਼ਬੂਦਾਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇੱਕ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਕੋਰੋਲਾ 2 to 3 cm (0.79 to 1.18 in), 5 ਤੋਂ 9 ਲੋਬਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਫੁੱਲ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ (ਆਮ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਲਗਭਗ 6 ਤੋਂ 8 ਵਜੇ), ਅਤੇ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਬੰਦ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ 12 ਤੋਂ 20 ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਆਦ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।[15] ਫਲ ਇੱਕ ਜਾਮਨੀ ਤੋਂ ਕਾਲੇ ਬੇਰ ਵਰਗੇ 1 cm (0.39 in) ਦੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।[16]
