ਕੁਰੂਕਸ਼ੇਤਰ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ (ਹਿੰਦੀ: कुरुक्षेत्र विश्वविद्यालय) 11 ਜਨਵਰੀ, 1956 ਨੂੰ [1] ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਕੁਰੂਕਸ਼ੇਤਰ (ਹਰਿਆਣਾ) ਜਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ । 1[2] ਇਹ ਐਸੋਸੀਏਸ਼ਨ ਆਫ਼ ਕਾਮਨਵੈਲਥ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀਜ਼[3] ਦੀ ਸਦੱਸ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਗਵਰਨਰ, ਚੰਦੇਸ਼ਵਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ, ਦਾ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਰੀਤੀ-ਰਿਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਧਾ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ।[4] ਕੁਰੂਕਸ਼ੇਤਰ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕਲੋਤਾ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਮੋਜੂਦ ਸੀ, ਜਦੋਂ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ, ਡਾ. ਰਾਜਿੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦ ਨੇ ਇਸਦਾ ਉਦਘਾਟਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਕੈੰਪਸ 400 ਏਕਰ ਤੱਕ ਫੈਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ । [5]
