17ਵੀਂ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ 11 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ ਤੋਂ 19 ਮਈ 2019 ਤੱਕ ਸੱਤ ਪੜਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਮ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ। ਵੋਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਨਤੀਜਾ 23 ਮਈ ਨੂੰ ਐਲਾਨਿਆ ਗਿਆ।[1][2][3][4] ਲਗਭਗ 912 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਲੋਕ ਵੋਟ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਸਨ, ਅਤੇ ਵੋਟਰ ਮਤਦਾਨ 67 ਪ੍ਰਤੀਸ਼ਤ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸੀ – ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ, ਅਤੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਭਾਗੀਦਾਰੀ।[5][6][lower-alpha 3]

ਭਾਰਤੀ ਜਨਤਾ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੇ 37.36% ਵੋਟਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ, ਜੋ ਕਿ 1989 ਦੀਆਂ ਆਮ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਕਿਸੇ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਵੋਟ ਸ਼ੇਅਰ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ 303 ਸੀਟਾਂ ਜਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਬਹੁਮਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਵਾਧਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।[8] ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਾਲੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰੀ ਗਠਜੋੜ (ਐਨ.ਡੀ.ਏ.) ਨੇ 353 ਸੀਟਾਂ ਜਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ।[9] ਇੰਡੀਅਨ ਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਨੇ 52 ਸੀਟਾਂ ਜਿੱਤੀਆਂ, ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਧਿਰ ਦੇ ਨੇਤਾ ਦੇ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਦਾ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਲੋੜੀਂਦੀਆਂ 10% ਸੀਟਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸਫਲ ਰਹੀ।[10] ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ, ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਪ੍ਰਗਤੀਸ਼ੀਲ ਗਠਜੋੜ (ਯੂ.ਪੀ.ਏ.) ਨੇ 91 ਸੀਟਾਂ ਜਿੱਤੀਆਂ, ਜਦਕਿ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਨੇ 98 ਸੀਟਾਂ ਜਿੱਤੀਆਂ।[11]

ਆਂਧਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼, ਅਰੁਣਾਚਲ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼, ਉੜੀਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਕਮ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਆਮ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਤਾਮਿਲਨਾਡੂ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਦੀਆਂ 22 ਸੀਟਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਉਪ-ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਹੋਈਆਂ।[12][13][14]

ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ 545 ਸੀਟਾਂ ਹਨ। 543 ਨੁਮਾਇਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਵੋਟਿੰਗ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ 2 ਨੁਮਾਇਦੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।[15]
