ਮੁਲਤਾਨ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ( ਉਰਦੂ: ضِلع مُلتان ), ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸੂਬੇ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਹੈ। ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੀ 1998 ਦੀ ਮਰਦਮਸ਼ੁਮਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇਸਦੀ ਆਬਾਦੀ 3,116,851 (1.315 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਜਾਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰੀ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ 42.2%) ਸੀ।[1][2][3] ਇਸਦੀ ਰਾਜਧਾਨੀ ਮੁਲਤਾਨ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਹੈ। ਮੁਲਤਾਨ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ 3,721 ਵਰਗ ਕਿਲੋਮੀਟਰ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੈਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਲਤਾਨ ਸਦਰ, ਮੁਲਤਾਨ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ, ਜਲਾਲਪੁਰ ਪੀਰਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੁਜਾਬਾਦ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਹਿਸੀਲਾਂ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ।[4]

ਇਤਿਹਾਸ

ਵੇਹਾੜੀ, ਖਾਨੇਵਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਧਰਾਂ ਮੁਲਤਾਨ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਹਿਸੀਲਾਂ ਸਨ। ਵੇਹੜੀ ਨੂੰ 1976 ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਖਾਨੇਵਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਲਤਾਨ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ 1985 ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਲੋਧਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ 1991 ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਲਤਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।[5]

ਸਥਿਤ[ਸੋਧੋ]

ਮੁਲਤਾਨ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਉੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਪੂਰਬ ਵੱਲ ਖਾਨੇਵਾਲ, ਪੂਰਬ ਵੱਲ ਵੇਹਾੜੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੱਖਣ ਵੱਲ ਲੋਧਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਘਿਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਚਨਾਬ ਨਦੀ ਇਸਦੇ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਪਾਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਲੰਘਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਪਾਰ ਮੁਜ਼ੱਫਰਗੜ੍ਹ ਸਥਿਤ ਹੈ।

ਜਨਸੰਖਿਆ[ਸੋਧੋ]

2017 ਦੀ ਮਰਦਮਸ਼ੁਮਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੀ ਆਬਾਦੀ 4,746,166 ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ 2,435,195 ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਅਤੇ 2,310,408 ਔਰਤਾਂ ਸਨ। ਪੇਂਡੂ ਆਬਾਦੀ 2,687,246 ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਹਿਰੀ ਆਬਾਦੀ 2,058,920 ਹੈ। ਸਾਖਰਤਾ ਦਰ 60.21% ਸੀ।

ਧਰਮ[ਸੋਧੋ]

2017 ਦੀ ਮਰਦਮਸ਼ੁਮਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ 99.37% ਆਬਾਦੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਭਾਈਚਾਰਾ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਈਸਾਈ ਆਬਾਦੀ ਦਾ 0.54% ਸੀ।[6]

2017 ਦੀ ਮਰਦਮਸ਼ੁਮਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ, 82.41% ਆਬਾਦੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ, ਅਤੇ 16.20% ਉਰਦੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਜੋਂ ਬੋਲਦੀ ਸੀ।[6]
