ਮੌਰਿਸ ਕੌਰਨਫੋਰਥ ਇੱਕ ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਮਾਰਕਸੀ ਦਾਰਸ਼ਨਿਕ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ 1930ਵਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੈਰੀਅਰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਹ ਫ਼ਲਸਫ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਉਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਚਲਤ ਵਿਸ਼ਲੇਸ਼ਣ-ਮੂਲਕ ਸ਼ੈਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਲੁਡਵਿਗ ਵਿਟਗਨਸ਼ਟਾਈਨ ਦਾ ਚੇਲਾ ਸੀ। ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਗ੍ਰੇਟ ਬ੍ਰਿਟੇਨ ਦੀ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਸਟ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਮੋਹਰੀ ਸਿਧਾਂਤਕਾਰ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬੜੇ ਜੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲਦੇ ਮਾਰਕਸਵਾਦੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਟੋਫਰ ਕੌਡਵਿਲ ਦੇ ਸੁਹਜ ਸਿਧਾਂਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਕੀਤਾ।
