12ਵੀਂ ਫੇਲ 2023 ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਹਿੰਦੀ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਜੀਵਨੀ ਡਰਾਮਾ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਵਿਧੂ ਵਿਨੋਦ ਚੋਪੜਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਿਤ, ਨਿਰਮਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਲਿਖੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਮਨੋਜ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਨੁਰਾਗ ਪਾਠਕ ਦੁਆਰਾ 2019 ਦੀ ਉਪਨਾਮ ਗ਼ੈਰ-ਗਲਪ ਕਿਤਾਬ 'ਤੇ ਅਧਾਰਤ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਸੇਵਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਬਣਨ ਲਈ ਅਤਿ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ।[4] ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਧਾ ਸ਼ੰਕਰ, ਅਨੰਤ ਵੀ ਜੋਸ਼ੀ, ਅੰਸ਼ੁਮਾਨ ਪੁਸ਼ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਿਯਾਂਸ਼ੂ ਚੈਟਰਜੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਕਰਾਂਤ ਮੈਸੀ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਦੇ ਕਿਰਦਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ।

27 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 2023 ਨੂੰ ਥੀਏਟਰਿਕ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਰਿਲੀਜ਼ ਹੋਈ, 12ਵੀਂ ਫੇਲ ਨੇ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਆਲੋਚਨਾਤਮਕ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ੰਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ₹20 crore (US$2.5 million) ਬਜਟ ਨਾਲ਼ ਬਣੀ ਇਸ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਨੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ ₹69 crore (US$8.6 million) ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ, ਇੱਕ ਸਲੀਪਰ ਹਿੱਟ ਰਹੀ।[5][6] 69ਵੇਂ ਫਿਲਮਫੇਅਰ ਅਵਾਰਡਸ ਵਿੱਚ, ਇਸਨੇ ਪੰਜ ਅਵਾਰਡ ਜਿੱਤੇ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰਵੋਤਮ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ, ਸਰਵੋਤਮ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਵੋਤਮ ਅਦਾਕਾਰ (ਆਲੋਚਕ) (ਮੈਸੀ) ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ।[7]

ਨਵੰਬਰ 2022 ਵਿੱਚ, ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਨਿਰਮਾਤਾ ਵਿਧੂ ਵਿਨੋਦ ਚੋਪੜਾ ਨੇ ਅਨੁਰਾਗ ਪਾਠਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਵਲ ਬਾਰ੍ਹਵੀਂ ਫੇਲ 'ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਦੀ ਘੋਸ਼ਣਾ ਕੀਤੀ।[8] ਇਹ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਆਈਪੀਐਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਮਨੋਜ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਈਆਰਐਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਜੋਸ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਅਸਲ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਹੈ।[9]

ਨਵੰਬਰ 2022 ਵਿੱਚ, ਚੋਪੜਾ ਨੇ ਘੋਸ਼ਣਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਅਭਿਨੇਤਾ ਵਿਕਰਾਂਤ ਮੈਸੀ ਮੁੱਖ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਉਣਗੇ।[10] ਯੂਪੀਐੱਸਸੀ ਕੋਚ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਦਿਵਯਕੀਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਕ੍ਰੀਨ 'ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਭਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕਾਸਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।[11] ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਸਲ ਜੀਵਨ ਯੂਪੀਐੱਸਸੀ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਭੂਮਿਕਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਸਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਮੈਸੀ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਇਸਨੇ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ "ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣਿਕਤਾ" ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜਿਆ।[12] ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਜੋਸ਼ੀ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਈ ਹੈ।[13]

ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੂਟਿੰਗ ਮੁੱਖ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਆਗਰਾ, ਚੰਬਲ, ਦਿੱਲੀ, ਮਸੂਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੰਬਈ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਦੇ ਚਾਹਵਾਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਦੋ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਕੇਂਦਰਾਂ, ਰਾਜੇਂਦਰ ਨਗਰ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਖਰਜੀ ਨਗਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ੂਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।[14][15] ਫਿਲਮ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੂਟਿੰਗ ਦਸੰਬਰ 2022 ਵਿੱਚ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਸੀ।[16]

12ਵੀਂ ਫੇਲ ਦਾ ਟੀਜ਼ਰ 10 ਅਗਸਤ 2023 ਨੂੰ ਰਿਲੀਜ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਇਸਦਾ ਟ੍ਰੇਲਰ 3 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 2023 ਨੂੰ ਰਿਲੀਜ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ 27 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 2023 ਨੂੰ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਨੜ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਨੇਮਾਘਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਲੀਜ਼ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ।[17][18] ਹਿੰਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਨਿਰਮਾਤਾਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਘੋਸ਼ਣਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਮਿਲ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਲਗੂ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੱਬ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ 3 ਨਵੰਬਰ 2023 ਨੂੰ ਰਿਲੀਜ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ।[19][20]

ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਦਾ ਸੰਗੀਤ ਸ਼ਾਂਤਨੂ ਮੋਇਤਰਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਗੀਤ ਸਵਾਨੰਦ ਕਿਰਕੀਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਲਿਖੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।[22] ਸਿਤਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਬੰਸਰੀ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਇਤਰਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਦਾ ਬੈਕਗ੍ਰਾਉਂਡ ਸਕੋਰ ਬੰਗਾਲੀ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਪਾਥੇਰ ਪੰਜਾਲੀ (1955) ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਰਵੀ ਸ਼ੰਕਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬਣਾਏ ਗਏ ਸਕੋਰ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਸੀ।[23]

ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 2024 ਵਿੱਚ, ਚੋਪੜਾ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਇੰਟਰਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਫਿਲਮ ਫੈਸਟੀਵਲ ਦੇ 2024 ਐਡੀਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਘੋਸ਼ਣਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ 12ਵੀਂ ਫੇਲ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਇੱਕ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਸਿਰਲੇਖ ਜ਼ੀਰੋ ਸੇ ਰੀਸਟਾਰਟ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਸਾਲ 13 ਦਸੰਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਲੀਜ਼ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ; ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਕੁਅਲ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ, ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਇੱਕ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜ਼ੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਖੁਲਾਸਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।[24][25]
