ਇਸਲਾਮ ਦਾ ਨਿਊ ਕੈਮਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਹਿਸਟਰੀ 2010 ਵਿੱਚ ਕੈਂਬਰਿਜ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਛੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਸਲਾਮ ਦਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਹੈ।[1] ਜਨਰਲ ਸੰਪਾਦਕ ਮਾਈਕਲ ਕੁੱਕ ਹੈ।
ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਨੇ ਇਸਲਾਮ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ ਕੈਂਬਰਿਜ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਲੈ ਲਈ ਜੋ 1970 ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।[2] ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਦੋ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੀ, ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਿਸਤ੍ਰਿਤ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ, ਨਵਾਂ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਥੀਮੈਟਿਕ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਦਾਹਰਨ ਲਈ, ਸੂਫੀਵਾਦ ਦੀ ਵਿਸਤ੍ਰਿਤ ਜਾਂਚ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਆਧਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਕਵਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਇਸਲਾਮ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੇ ਬਿਰਤਾਂਤ 'ਤੇ ਵੀ ਸਾਵਧਾਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਵਾਲ ਉਠਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤੀ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਈ ਭਰੋਸੇਯੋਗ ਪਾਠਕ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਟ ਹੈ।[3]
