ਦਾਊਦ ਕਮਲ
ਦਾਊਦ ਕਮਲ (4 ਜਨਵਰੀ 1935 - 5 ਦਸੰਬਰ 1987) ( ਉਰਦੂ : داؤد کمال) ਇੱਕ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨੀ ਕਵੀ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਰਚਨਾ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਚੀ।[1]
ਉਸਦੀ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਏਜ਼ਰਾ ਪਾਉਂਡ, ਡਬਲਯੂ ਬੀ ਯੀਟਸ ਅਤੇ ਟੀ ਐਸ ਐਲੀਅਟ ਵਰਗੇ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਕਵੀਆਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਸੀ।[2]
ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਰੀਅਰ[ਸੋਧੋ]
1935 ਵਿੱਚ ਐਬਟਾਬਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ, ਚੌਧਰੀ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ ਅਲੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪੇਸ਼ਾਵਰ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਵਾਈਸ-ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਭਾਈ, [3] ਅਤੇ 1964 ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਨਾਹ ਕਾਲਜ ਫਾਰ ਵੂਮਨ ਦੀ ਸੰਸਥਾਪਕ ਸੀ।[4] ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਇਸਲਾਮੀਆ ਕਾਲਜ ਪਿਸ਼ਾਵਰ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਬਰਨ ਹਾਲ ਐਬਟਾਬਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ।[5] ਫਿਰ, ਉਸਨੇ ਪੇਸ਼ਾਵਰ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੈਚਲਰ ਆਫ਼ ਆਰਟਸ ਦੀ ਡਿਗਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ ਦੀ ਕੈਮਬ੍ਰਿਜ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਟ੍ਰਾਈਪੋਸ ਦੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਪੂਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ।[6]
29 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੱਕ, ਉਸਨੇ ਪਿਸ਼ਾਵਰ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਅਤੇ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਵੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਭਾਈ।[7]
ਮੌਤ[ਸੋਧੋ]
ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਦਾਊਦ ਕਮਲ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ 5 ਦਸੰਬਰ 1987 ਨੂੰ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ। ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਉਸੇ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਕਬਰਸਤਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਫ਼ਨਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਸਨੇ 29 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਪਸ਼ਤੋ ਅਕੈਡਮੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਪੇਸ਼ਾਵਰ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।[8][9]
