ਆਨਾ ਡੈਬਿਸ
ਆਨਾ ਡੈਬਿਸ (1847–13 ਮਾਰਚ 1927) ਇੱਕ ਜਰਮਨ ਮੂਰਤੀਕਾਰ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੈਰੀਅਰ ਦਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਟੇਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਿਤਾਇਆ।

ਡੈਬਿਸ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਜਰਮਨੀ ਦੇ ਰੁਗੇਨ ਟਾਪੂ 'ਤੇ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਦਰੀ ਸਨ।[1] ਛੋਟੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਦੇ ਮਾਤਾ-ਪਿਤਾ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਡੈਬਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਧਿਆਪਨ ਦੀ ਪੋਸਟ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ 1881 ਦੇ ਆਸਪਾਸ ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਸਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਪੋਸ਼ਣ ਉਸਦੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।[2] ਉਸਨੇ ਦੱਖਣੀ ਕੇਨਸਿੰਗਟਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਆਰਟ ਟ੍ਰੇਨਿੰਗ ਸਕੂਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਏਡੌਰਡ ਲੈਂਟੇਰੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸ਼ਿਲਪ ਕਲਾ ਸਿਖਾਈ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ 1885 ਦੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦਾ ਤਗਮਾ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ।[2]
ਡੈਬਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਡਲ, ਬੁਸਟ, ਸਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਬੁੱਤ ਬਣਾਉਣੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਅਕਸਰ ਕਾਂਸੀ ਦੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ 1888 ਅਤੇ 1895 ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਉਸਨੇ ਲੰਡਨ ਦੀ ਰਾਇਲ ਅਕੈਡਮੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਸ ਕੰਮ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ।[3][4] ਉਸਨੇ ਮਤਾਧਿਕਾਰ ਅੰਦੋਲਨ ਦਾ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ 1889 ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਨੇ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਤੇ ਦੇ ਹੱਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਘੋਸ਼ਣਾ ਪੱਤਰ 'ਤੇ ਹਸਤਾਖਰ ਕੀਤੇ।[2] ਕਈ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਲੰਡਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਡੈਬਿਸ ਕੈਂਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਊਥਫਲੀਟ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ।[3] ਕਿੰਗਜ਼ ਕਾਲਜ ਲੰਡਨ ਨੇ ਫ੍ਰੀਡਾ ਮੋਂਡ ਦੀ ਉਸਦੀ ਕਾਂਸੀ ਦੀ ਪਲਾਸਟਰ ਬੁਸਟ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।[2]
