That article is about the actual stretch of railroad, though, not the company. Furthermore, the "Chesapeake and Indiana Railroad Company" logo is found on the website of the Indiana Boxcar Corporation, the owner of the railroad. I'm unsure as to whose logo this actually is - at any rate the article doesn't seem to be about a company. Can the requester please clarify? – Finnusertop (talk ⋅ contribs) 03:48, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

Article To Be Used On/Reason For Upload: Henning Meyer (social scientist born 1978) because there is currently no picture and search engines pull in a wrong picture. I had this picture taken specifically to go with online profiles and the photographers (DG Corporate in London) provide the packages specifically for this purpose. With the attribution mentioned above this is good to use.
The problem is that the language on the permission site is unclear and doesn't constitute any free license that we accept. If you want this picture to be used, you have two options:
1) the copyright holder can publish the picture into the public domain, therefor completely resigning their exclusive copyright to it.
2) Or, the copyright holder can publish it with some free license that technically allows them to retain the copyright, but gives re-users many irrevocable rights. An example of such a license would be the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0
Option two would entail that re-users need to attribute the photo (as you currently require). Both options would allow all kinds of re-use, not just "editorial", as Wikipedia does not allow images that are for non-commercial use only or have some other limitations on their re-use. – Finnusertop (talk ⋅ contribs) 04:34, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

Description: This is an updated logo for the UC Berkeley School of Public Health. We need to replace the logo on this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UC_Berkeley_School_of_Public_Health with an updated logo. We’d also like to delete all other versions and sizes of the old logo on Wikipedia.
Comment: The website doesn't say this is published under CC-by-sa-3.0, so we have no choice but to presume it is copyrighted. It could be used (without permission) under fair-use though, but this would mean its use here is limited to the article Moravian College and its resolution would have to be low.
However, the old logo, File:Moravian College Logo.jpg was explicitly given permission for publication under the said license. This was done by Moravian Public Relations (Michael Wilson Director of Public Relations and Marketing Moravian College). Would this be possible with the new logo, too? We would need evidence of permission for it. This could be done by email, see Commons:OTRS. – Finnusertop (talk ⋅ contribs) 05:14, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

New Gulistan Palace invites you to Discover and Explore the Ultimate Paradise on Earth, Kashmir. Kashmir is a Paradise regained. Kashmir is so precious, no outsider is allowed to own land here.

License: [Non-free magazine cover], is required to help provide commentary and identify the Magazine, and the volume numbers. Image is low resolution, and unsuitable for pirate versions. Not replaceable by free content. (This is actually own work, but I'm not sure if I still possess enough IP rights to release it under a free license, as of contractual obligations).
Comment: The file appears to violate WP:NFCC#8 in this article. --Stefan2 (talk) 18:23, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
Comment: The magazine has been published since 1881. We could use a scan of an early volume. A scan from the late 1800s or early 1900s would be automatically out of copyright. A quick Google search found some covers from the 1950s. These are potentially out of copyright (if they were published without a copyright notice and the copyright was not renewed - a practice that concerned copyrighted works at that time). Finnusertop (talk | guestbook | contribs) 01:50, 13 December 2015 (UTC)
Comment: That would work. I'm going to reach out and see if I can get a definitive answer on what copyrights I still own. I would guess that they did, considering how the Harpur Trust take their intellectual property. The format has, however, changed significantly since then, both could (separately) be relevant to the article. Anyway, I will probably re-upload the image when I hear back. Comment: This could or could not be PD-textlogo, I am not sure. In any case, I don't see what this would add to the article. Do other editors have an opinion? Finnusertop (talk | guestbook | contribs) 13:28, 20 December 2015 (UTC)

Description: This image is of Martin Wolf, and is hosted on his company website to accompany his profile. It was taken by a member of the firm's staff and has been approved to accompany the article.
This is a copyrighted image that has been released by a company or organization to promote their work or product in the media, such as advertising material or a promotional photo in a press kit.
The copyright for it is most likely owned by the company who created the promotional item or the artist who produced the item in question; you must provide evidence of such ownership. Lack of such evidence is grounds for deletion.
It is believed that the use of some images of promotional material to illustrate:
the person(s), product, event, or subject in question;
where the image is unrepeatable, i.e. a free image could not be created to replace it;
Additionally, the copyright holder may have granted permission for use in works such as Wikipedia. However, if they have, this permission likely does not fall under a free license.
Please note that our policy usually considers fair use images of living people that merely show what they look like to be replaceable by free-licensed images and unsuitable for the project. If this is not the case for this image, a rationale must be provided proving that the image provides information beyond simple identification or showing that this image is difficult to replace by a free-licensed equivalent. Commercial third-party reusers of this image should consider whether their use is in violation of the subject's publicity rights.
