ਸਿਮੋਨ ਅਸ਼ਵਿਨੀ ਪਿਲਾਈ (ਜਨਮ 30 ਮਾਰਚ 1995) ਜੋ ਪੇਸ਼ੇਵਰ ਤੌਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਿਮੋਨ ਐਸ਼ਲੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਜਾਣੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇੱਕ ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਅਭਿਨੇਤਰੀ ਹੈ।[2][3] ਉਹ ਨੈੱਟਫਲਿਕਸ ਪੀਰੀਅਡ ਡਰਾਮਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਜਰਟਨ (2022-ਵਰਤਮਾਨ) ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਲਈ ਜਾਣੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਭਾਰਤੀ ਤਮਿਲ ਮਾਤਾ-ਪਿਤਾ ਲਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਣਸ਼ੇਖਰਨ ਪਿਲਾਈ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ ਸਿਮੋਨ ਅਸ਼ਵਿਨੀ ਪਿਲਾਈ, ਐਸ਼ਲੇ ਕੈਂਬਰਲੀ, ਸਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਭਰਾ ਸੀਨ ਪਿਲਾਈ ਹੈ।[4][5] ਐਸ਼ਲੇ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ, ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਰਚਨਾਤਮਕ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਖਿੱਚੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ।[6] ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਤਾ-ਪਿਤਾ ਕਲਾ ਵੱਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਝੁਕਾਅ ਬਾਰੇ ਝਿਜਕਦੇ ਸਨ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗਲੈਮਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ, "ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਤਾ-ਪਿਤਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਨ। "ਉਹ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪੀਡ਼੍ਹੀ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਭਾਰਤ ਤੋਂ ਇਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਏ ਸਨ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਹ ਜੋ ਵੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ ਉਹ ਚੁਣ ਸਕਦੇ ਸਨ।" ਐਸ਼ਲੇ ਕਲਾਸੀਕਲ ਸੰਗੀਤ, ਓਪੇਰਾ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਆਨੋ ਵਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੋਈ।[7]
ਐਸ਼ਲੇ ਦਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੀਕਨਸਫੀਲਡ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਛੇਵੇਂ ਫਾਰਮ ਲਈ ਬੀਕਨਸਫੀਲਡ ਹਾਈ ਸਕੂਲ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਮੇਡਨਹੈੱਡ ਦੇ ਰੈਡਰੂਫਜ਼ ਥੀਏਟਰ ਸਕੂਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਡ਼੍ਹਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ।[8][6] ਉਸਨੇ ਸੋਲਾਂ ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਕੂਲ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ "ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿੱਦੀ" ਅਤੇ "ਮੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਕਾਮਨਾ" ਵਜੋਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ।[9][10] ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਸ਼ੋਰ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਕੁਝ ਸਾਲ ਓਜਾਈ, ਕੈਲੀਫੋਰਨੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਿਤਾਏ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਹਨ। ਉਸਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਮਾਡਲਿੰਗ ਏਜੰਸੀ ਨਾਲ ਹਸਤਾਖਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਅਤੇ 18 ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਡੀਸ਼ਨ ਦੇਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਲੰਡਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਰਟਸ ਐਜੂਕੇਸ਼ਨਲ ਸਕੂਲ (ਆਰਟਸ ਐੱਡ) ਵਿੱਚ ਅਦਾਕਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਪਡ਼੍ਹਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ।[2][11]
