ਨਿਹੰਗ ਖ਼ਾਨ
ਨਿਹੰਗ ਖ਼ਾਨ (ਸ਼ਾਹਮੁਖੀ: نهنگ خاں) ਰੋਪੜ ਨੇੜੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ, ਭਾਰਤ ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਰਿਆਸਤ ਕੋਟਲਾ ਨਿਹੰਗ ਖ਼ਾਨ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਮੀਂਦਾਰ ਹਾਕਮ ਸੀ।[1] ਉਹ ਦਸਮ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਰੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਦੋਸਤ ਅਤੇ ਪੈਰੋਕਾਰ ਸੀ। ਗੁਰੂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਅਕਸਰ ਨਿਹੰਗ ਖਾਨ ਕੋਲ ਆ ਕੇ ਠਹਿਰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਮੁਗਲ ਫੌਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਤਿਆਚਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ, ਨਿਹੰਗ ਖ਼ਾਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਨਿਹੰਗ ਖਾਂ ਪਠਾਣ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਗਜ਼ਨਬੀ ਦੀ ਕੁਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨੌਰੰਗ ਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ।[2][3]
ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਹੰਗ ਖ਼ਾਨ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਵਿਕਰਮ ਸੰਵਤ ਸਾਲ 1745 (1688 ਈਸਵੀ) ਵਿੱਚ ਮੱਘਰ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੀ ਮੱਸਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ।[1] ਨਿਹੰਗ ਖਾਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਤੋਂ ਏਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕਾਜ ਲਈ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ।[1] ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਵਜੋਂ, ਸਿੱਖ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਕਸਰ ਭਾਈ ਨਿਹੰਗ ਖਾਨ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।[4] ਨਿਹੰਗ ਖਾਨ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਭਾਈ ਆਲਮ ਖਾਨ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਮੌਕੇ 3 ਮਈ 1694 ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਵੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।[5]
