ਫਿਰਦੌਸ ਆਜ਼ਿਮ ਬ੍ਰੈਕ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ, ਇੱਕ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਆਲੋਚਕ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਕਾਰਕੁਨ ਹੈ।[1][2][3] ਉਹ ਬ੍ਰੈਕ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਚੇਅਰਪਰਸਨ ਹੈ।[4] ਉਹ ਨਰੀਪੋਖੋ ਦੀ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਹੈ।[5]

ਮੁੱਢਲਾ ਜੀਵਨ[ਸੋਧੋ]

ਆਜ਼ਿਮ ਨੇ 1976 ਵਿੱਚ ਢਾਕਾ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਸਟਰ ਦੀ ਡਿਗਰੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ।[6] ਉਹ 1978 ਵਿੱਚ ਢਾਕਾ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈਕਚਰਾਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਈ। ਉਸਨੇ 1989 ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਪੀਐਚਡੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ।[7] ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਬਸ਼ੀਰੂਲ ਹੱਕ, ਇੱਕ ਆਰਕੀਟੈਕਟ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।[8]

ਕੈਰੀਅਰ[ਸੋਧੋ]

ਆਜ਼ਿਮ ਨੇ ਢਾਕਾ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਉਹ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੂਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ। ਉਹ ਜੁਲਾਈ 2004 ਵਿੱਚ ਬ੍ਰੈਕ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਈ।

ਆਜ਼ਿਮ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਤਾਬ, ਦ ਕੋਲੋਨਿਅਲ ਰਾਈਜ਼ ਆਫ਼ ਦ ਨਾਵਲ, 1993 ਵਿੱਚ ਰੂਟਲੇਜ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ।[9][10] ਇਹ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ 18ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਵਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਾਰੀਵਾਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਤਰ-ਬਸਤੀਵਾਦੀ ਲੈਂਸਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।[11] ਜੂਨ 1994 ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਢਾਕਾ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਕਾਸ਼ੀਨਾਥ ਰਾਏ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਗਲਾ ਅਕੈਡਮੀ ਦੇ ਰਸਾਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ "ਲੌਸਟ ਇਨ ਇੰਡੀਆਃ ਦ ਸਟੋਰੀਜ਼ ਆਫ਼ ਕਿਮ ਐਂਡ ਗੋਰਾ" ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ।[12][13]

1996 ਵਿੱਚ, ਆਜ਼ਿਮ ਨੇ ਨਿਆਜ਼ ਜ਼ਮਾਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ, ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਪ੍ਰੈੱਸ ਲਿਮਟਿਡ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਅਨੰਤ ਵੈਰਾਇਟੀਃ ਸਮਾਜ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਪਾਦਨ ਕੀਤਾ।[14]

ਆਜ਼ਿਮ ਨੇ ਨਿਆਜ਼ ਜ਼ਮਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ 1998 ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਪਰਿਪੇਖਃ ਬੰਗਲਾਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਸੰਪਾਦਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।[15]

ਆਜ਼ਿਮ ਨੇ 16 ਨਵੰਬਰ 2004 ਨੂੰ ਯੂਰਪੀਅਨ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਫੋਰਮ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਮੂਹਕ/ਅੰਤਰ-ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਗਲਾਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਰੀਵਾਦੀ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਪੇਪਰ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੁਲਾਈ 2005 ਵਿੱਚ ਫੈਮੀਨਿਸਟ ਰਿਵਿਊ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।[16]

ਆਜ਼ਿਮ ਨੇ 19 ਦਸੰਬਰ 2007 ਨੂੰ 'ਬੰਗਲਾਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮਃ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਲਈ ਨਵੇਂ ਰਸਤੇ' ਲਿਖਿਆ।[17] ਮਾਰਚ 2008 ਵਿੱਚ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਟੋਰੀਜ਼ ਆਫ਼ ਚੇਂਜ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜ਼ੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਚਰਚਾ ਦਾ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਕੀਤਾ।[18]

ਅਜ਼ੀਮ ਨੇ 2012 ਦੇ ਹੇਅ ਫੈਸਟੀਵਲ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਕੀਤਾ।[19] ਉਸ ਨੇ 2013 ਦੇ ਹੇ ਫੈਸਟੀਵਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਮੰਡਲ ਲੇਖਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲਬਾਤਃ ਦ ਅਨਟੋਲਡ ਸਟੋਰੀ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ।[20] ਮਾਰਚ 2013 ਵਿੱਚ, ਅਜੀਮ ਨੇ ਰੂਟਲੇਜ ਲਈ ਕੰਪਲੈਕਸ ਟੈਰੈਨਸਃ ਇਸਲਾਮ, ਕਲਚਰ ਐਂਡ ਵੂਮੈਨ ਇਨ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਦਾ ਸੰਪਾਦਨ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਆਜ਼ਿਮ ਨੇ 2014 ਦੇ ਹੇ ਫੈਸਟੀਵਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਪੈਨਲ ਦੀ ਮੇਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਨੇ ਜ਼ਿਆ ਹੈਦਰ ਰਹਿਮਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਨਾਵਲ, ਇਨ ਦ ਲਾਈਟ ਆਫ਼ ਵ੍ਹਾਟ ਵੀ ਨੋ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ।[21][22] 2015 ਵਿੱਚ, ਉਸਨੇ ਉਮੇਆ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਮੇਆ ਸੈਂਟਰ ਫਾਰ ਜੈਂਡਰ ਸਟੱਡੀਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਡ਼੍ਹਾਇਆ।

11 ਅਗਸਤ 2016 ਨੂੰ, ਅਜੀਮ ਨੇ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਨਾਰੀ ਓ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ।[23] ਉਹ 2016 ਦੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਮੰਡਲ ਲਘੂ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੱਜ ਸੀ।[24]

ਆਜ਼ਿਮ ਨੇ 2018 ਦੇ ਦੱਖਣੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆਈ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਲਈ ਜਿਊਰੀ ਡੀਐਸਸੀ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਭਾਈ।[25][26] ਆਜ਼ਿਮ ਨੇ ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 2019 ਵਿੱਚ ਬ੍ਰੈਕ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਰਸਾਲਾ ਰੈਜ਼ੋਨੈਂਸ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ।[27] ਮਾਰਚ 2019 ਵਿੱਚ, ਉਸਨੇ ਹੋਰ ਕਾਰਕੁਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਮੂਹ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੀ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਸਤਾਖਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਗਲਾਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਢਾਕਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਹਿਦੁਲ ਆਲਮ ਅਤੇ ਅਰੁੰਧਤੀ ਰਾਏ ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਹੋਈ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਬਰਦਸਤੀ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਾਇਰਤਾਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।[28]

ਅਜੀਮ ਬੰਗਲਾਦੇਸ਼ ਫਰੀਡਮ ਫਾਊਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਬੋਰਡ ਆਫ਼ ਟਰੱਸਟੀਜ਼ ਦਾ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਹੈ।[29] ਉਹ ਫੈਮੀਨਿਸਟ ਰਿਵਿ Review ਦੀ ਸੰਪਾਦਕ ਅਤੇ ਨਰੀਪੋਖੋ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਟਰ-ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਕਲਚਰਲ ਸਟੱਡੀਜ਼ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਦੀ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਨਰੀਪੋਖੋ ਦੇ 1971 ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਔਰਤ ਦੀ ਆਗੂ ਹੈ।[30][31] 26 ਨਵੰਬਰ 2020 ਨੂੰ, ਉਸਨੇ ਲਿਬਰਲ ਆਰਟਸ ਬੰਗਲਾਦੇਸ਼ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਠਕ੍ਰਮ ਏਕੀਕਰਣ (ਸੀ. ਆਈ.) ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ।[32] ਆਜ਼ਿਮ ਨੇ 41 ਹੋਰ ਵਿਦਵਾਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਸਤਾਖਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਗਲਾਦੇਸ਼ ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਦੋਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਸੁਪਰੀਮ ਜੁਡੀਸ਼ੀਅਲ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।[33] ਉਸਨੇ ਮਾਰਚ 2021 ਵਿੱਚ ਜਹਾਂਗੀਰਨਗਰ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿਖੇ 'ਇੰਗਲਿਸ਼ ਜੁਬਲੀ ਲਿਟ ਫੈਸਟ 2021' ਦੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਦਿਨ 'ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦਗੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ' ਦੇ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ।[34] ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 2021 ਵਿੱਚ, ਉਸਨੇ ਬੰਗਲਾਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਘੱਟ ਗਿਣਤੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ 46 ਹੋਰ ਵਿਦਵਾਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਪੱਤਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਸਤਖਤ ਕੀਤੇ।[35]

ਆਜ਼ਿਮ ਨੇ ਜ਼ੁਬਾਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ 2022 ਦੀ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਇਨਹੇਰੀਟਿਡ ਮੈਮੋਰੀਜ਼ਃ ਤੀਜੀ ਪੀਡ਼੍ਹੀ ਦਾ ਪਰਿਪੇਖ ਪੂਰਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡ ਬਾਰੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ।[36] ਉਹ 'ਦ ਜੈਂਡਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਈਸ ਆਫ ਪ੍ਰੀਕੈਰਿਟੀਃ ਵਰਕਪਲੇਸ ਸੈਕਸੁਅਲ ਹੈਰਾਸਮੈਂਟ' ਅਤੇ 'ਯੰਗ ਵੁਮੈਨਜ਼ ਏਜੰਸੀ' ਲਈ ਖੋਜ ਟੀਮ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਅਕੈਡਮੀ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਹੈ।[37]
