ਬਤਾਊਂ ਜਾਂ ਬੈਂਗਣ ਇੱਕ ਸਬਜ਼ੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਖਣੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ, ਦੱਖਣ-ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਦੱਖਣੀ ਅਫਰੀਕਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਰਿੰਜਲ (brinjal) ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।[1][2][3][4] ਜਦਕਿ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ, ਕਨੇਡਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਐੱਗਪਲਾਂਟ (Eggplant) ਅਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਇੰਗਲਿਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਬਰਜੀਨ (Aubergine) ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Brinjal (Solanum melongena), is an easily cultivated plant belonging to the family Solanaceae. Its fruit is high in nutrition and commonly consumed as a vegetable. The fruit and other parts of the plant are used in traditional medicine.
