ਬਾਰੂਆ ਪਿਸ਼ਾਰੋਤੀ ਆਸਾਮ ਦੇ ਮਾਜੁਲੀ ਟਾਪੂ 'ਤੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦੇ ਕਟੌਤੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਰੋਜ਼ੀ-ਰੋਟੀ ਦੇ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ 'ਤੇ ਖਬਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੜੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ 2011 ਤੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਫੈਲੋਸ਼ਿਪ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। [7] 2017 ਵਿੱਚ, ਉਹ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੰਦੂਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ੀ ਅਲੱਗ-ਥਲੱਗ ਹੋਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟਿੰਗ ਲਈ ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਮਨਾਥ ਗੋਇਨਕਾ ਐਕਸੀਲੈਂਸ ਅਵਾਰਡ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਕਰਤਾ ਸੀ। [8] [9]
ਉਹ ਗੁਹਾਟੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੀ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੋਂ ਉਸਨੇ 1995 ਵਿੱਚ ਗ੍ਰੈਜੂਏਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ। ਬਰੂਆ ਪਿਸ਼ਾਰੋਤੀ ਨੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਸਮਾਚਾਰ ਏਜੰਸੀ ਯੂਨਾਈਟਿਡ ਨਿਊਜ਼ ਆਫ ਇੰਡੀਆ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੈਰੀਅਰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਏਜੰਸੀ ਦੇ ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਹੈੱਡਕੁਆਰਟਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਉੱਤਰ-ਪੂਰਬੀ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਔਰਤ ਸੀ। [7]
