14 ਜੁਲਾਈ 2016 ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਰਾਂਸ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੀਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਸਟੀਲ (Bastille) ਦਿਨ ਮਨਾ ਰਹੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੀੜ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇੱਕ 19 ਟਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਕਾਰਗੋ ਟਰੱਕ ਜਾਣ ਬੁੱਝ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਮੇਨਾੜੇ ਦੇਸ ਅੰਗਲੈਸ (Promenade des Anglais) ਵਿਖੇ ਭੀੜ ਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ 86 ਲੋਕ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ 434 ਜਖਮੀ ਹੋਏ।[4][5][6][7] ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਨੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਟਕਰਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ 100 (330 ਫੁੱਟ) ਮੀਟਰ ਤੱਕ ਉੱਚ ਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਟਰੱਕ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾਇਆ। ਟਰੱਕ ਦੇ ਡਰਾਇਵਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਗੋਲੀ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ।

In the truck's cabin, officials said, the police discovered an automatic 7.65 mm pistol, a cartridge clip, several used and unused 7.65 mm cartridges, as well as a fake automatic pistol, two fake assault rifles — a replica AK-47 and a replica M-16 — a grenade, a mobile phone and documents.
