ਚੁਮਾਰ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਜੰਮੂ ਅਤੇ ਕਸ਼ਮੀਰ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਦੱਖਣ ਲੱਦਾਖ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਤ ਸੀਮਾ ਚੌਕਸੀ ਚੌਕੀ ਹੈ।[1][2][3][4] ਭਾਰਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਚੀਨੀ ਸੈਨਿਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸਲੀ ਕਾਬੂ ਰੇਖਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਝੜਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਚੌਕੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸੰਵੇਦਨਸ਼ੀਲ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਚੌਕੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।[5] ਇਹ ਲੇਹ ਤੋਂ 190 ਕਿਮੀ ਦੱਖਣ-ਪੂਰਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਤ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਲੰਬੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ 2014 ਤੱਕ ਚੀਨੀ ਫੌਜ ਲਈ ਸਿਰਦਰਦੀ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਖੇਤਰ ਸੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਚੁਮਾਰ ਕੋਲ ਚੀਨੀ ਐਲਓਸੀ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਚੀਨੀ-ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸਰਹੱਦ ਤੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਤਨ ਕੁਝ ਕੁ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸੀ ਜਿਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਸੜਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।[6][7][8][9][10]
