ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮੰਡ ਵਿਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਟੀਫਨ ਹਾਕਿੰਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਇੱਕ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੈ:- ਬ੍ਰੀਫ਼ ਹਿਸਟਰੀ ਆਫ਼ ਟਾਈਮ (a brief history of time, ਸਮੇਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਖੇਪ ਇਤਹਾਸ)।[15] ਉਸ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਲਿਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਮਾਂ ਕਦੋਂ ਅਰੰਭ ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਸ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਂ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਅਰੰਭ ਹੋਏ ਜਦੋਂ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮੰਡ ਦੀ ਉਤਪਤੀ ਬਿਗ ਬੈਂਗ (ਮਹਾਵਿਸਫੋਟ) ਤੋਂ ਹੋਈ। ਯਾਨੀ, ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮੰਡ ਅਗਿਆਤ ਦਸ਼ਾ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਅਕਤ ਦਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਣ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸਮਾਂ ਵੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਂ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਅਰੰਭ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਂ ਕਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਰਹੇਗਾ? ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਇਹ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਰਹੇਗੀ,ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲੋਪ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੋਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਦੂਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਿ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕੀ ਸੀ? ਇਸ ਦੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਕਿੰਸ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਅੱਜ ਅਗਿਆਤ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਨੇ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਧਨ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੋਈ ਤਾਰਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਬਾਲਣ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਊਰਜਾ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤਦ ਉਹ ਸੁੰਗੜਨ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਹਿੰਦੁਸਤਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕੀਤਾ। ਰਿਗਵੇਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਰਦੀਏ ਸੂਕਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਉਤਪੱਤੀ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਵ ਦੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਤਦ ਨਾ ਸਤ ਸੀ ਨਾ ਅਸਤ ਸੀ, ਨਾ ਪਰਮਾਣੁ ਸੀ ਨਾ ਅਕਾਸ਼, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਕੀ ਸੀ ? ਤਦ ਨਾ ਮੌਤ ਸੀ, ਨਾ ਅਮਰਤਾ ਸੀ, ਨਾ ਦਿਨ ਸੀ, ਨਾ ਰਾਤ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਪੰਦਨ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਯੁਕਤ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਤੱਤ ਸੀ। ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਹੀ ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਤਪ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਯੁਕਤ ਇੱਕ ਤੱਤ ਸੀ। ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਇੱਥੇ ਰਿਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਾਲ ਦੀ ਪਰਿਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ: ਕਲਇਤੀ ਸਰਵਾਣਿ ਭੂਤਾਨਿ।[16] ਯਾਨੀ, ਕਾਲ ਸੰਪੂਰਣ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮੰਡ ਨੂੰ, ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਖਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮੰਡ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਬਣਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਹੋਇਆ। ਇਹ ਚੱਕਰ ਚੱਲਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
