ਜੋਸ਼ੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਅਭਿਆਸ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵੱਲ ਖਿੱਚਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਨਾਟਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਿਲਚਸਪੀ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹੋਏ, ਉਸਨੇ ਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਸਕੂਲ ਆਫ ਡਰਾਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ 3-ਸਾਲ ਦਾ ਡਿਪਲੋਮਾ ਕੋਰਸ ਕੀਤਾ,^[3] ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਥੀਏਟਰ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਇਬਰਾਹਿਮ ਅਲਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ।
