ਸੁਨੀਲ ਛੇਤਰੀ (ਅੰਗ੍ਰੇਜ਼ੀ: Sunil Chhetri; ਜਨਮ 3 ਅਗਸਤ 1984) ਇੱਕ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਪੇਸ਼ੇਵਰ ਫੁੱਟਬਾਲਰ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਇੱਕ ਸਟ੍ਰਾਈਕਰ ਜਾਂ ਵਿੰਗਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਖੇਡਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਡੀਅਨ ਸੁਪਰ ਲੀਗ ਦੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪਾਸੇ ਬੰਗਲੁਰੂ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਟੀਮ ਦਾ ਕਪਤਾਨ ਹੈ। "ਕਪਤਾਨ ਫੈਨਟੈਸਟਿਕ" ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ, ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀਅਨੋ ਰੋਨਾਲਡੋ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਮੈਚਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਨੰਬਰ 'ਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਗੋਲ ਕੀਤੇ,[1][2][3] ਉਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਕੈਪਟੈਡ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਹਨ[4][5] ਅਤੇ ਆਲ- ਭਾਰਤੀ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਟੀਮ ਲਈ ਟਾਈਮ ਚੋਟੀ ਦੇ ਗੋਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ, 115 ਮੈਚਾਂ ਵਿਚ 72 ਗੋਲ।[6] ਉਹ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਟੀਮ ਦਾ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਕਪਤਾਨ ਹੈ। ਸੁਨੀਲ ਛੇਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ 34 ਵੇਂ ਜਨਮਦਿਨ 'ਤੇ ਏਐਫਸੀ ਨੇ' ਏਸ਼ੀਅਨ ਆਈਕਨ 'ਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ।[7]

ਛੇਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੇਸ਼ੇਵਰ ਕਰੀਅਰ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਮੋਹਨ ਬਾਗਾਨ ਤੋਂ 2002 ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤੀ।[8][9] ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਜੇ.ਸੀ.ਟੀ. ਵਿੱਚ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਸਨੇ 48 ਮੈਚਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ 21 ਗੋਲ ਕੀਤੇ।[10] ਉਸਨੇ 2010 ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਜਰ ਲੀਗ ਸਾਕਰ ਦੇ ਕੰਸਾਸ ਸਿਟੀ ਵਿਜ਼ਰਡਜ਼ ਲਈ ਦਸਤਖਤ ਕੀਤੇ, ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਉਪ-ਮਹਾਂਦੀਪ ਦੇ ਤੀਜੇ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਬਣ ਗਏ।[11] ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ, ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਚਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਟਿਕ ਸਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਲਦੀ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਆਈ-ਲੀਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਪਸ ਆ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਚਿਰਾਗ ਯੂਨਾਈਟਿਡ ਅਤੇ ਮੋਹਨ ਬਾਗਾਨ ਲਈ ਖੇਡਿਆ। ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੀਮੀਰਾ ਲੀਗਾ ਦੇ ਸਪੋਰਟਿੰਗ ਕਲੱਬ ਦੀ ਪੁਰਤਗਾਲ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਦਸਤਖਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਥੇ ਉਹ ਕਲੱਬ ਦੇ ਰਿਜ਼ਰਵ ਪੱਖ ਲਈ ਖੇਡਦਾ ਸੀ।[12]

ਉਸਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਨੂੰ 2007 ਨਹਿਰੂ ਕੱਪ, 2009 ਨਹਿਰੂ ਕੱਪ, 2012 ਨਹਿਰੂ ਕੱਪ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ 2011 ਦੀ SAFF ਚੈਂਪੀਅਨਸ਼ਿਪ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਹ 2008 ਦੇ ਏਐਫਸੀ ਚੈਲੇਂਜ ਕੱਪ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਸਰਬੋਤਮ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਰਤ ਨੇ ਟੂਰਨਾਮੈਂਟ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ 27 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਏਐਫਸੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਅਨ ਕੱਪ ਲਈ ਕੁਆਲੀਫਾਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।[13] ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਸਨੇ 2011 ਦੇ ਏਐਫਸੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਅਨ ਕੱਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋ ਟੀਚੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੀ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਗੋਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ।[14] ਛੇਤਰੀ 2007, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2017 ਅਤੇ 2018–19 ਵਿਚ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਛੇ ਵਾਰ ਏਆਈਐਫਐਫ ਪਲੇਅਰ ਆਫ ਦਿ ਯੀਅਰ ਵੀ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।[15][16]

4 ਜੁਲਾਈ 2012 ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਮਿਲੀ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਛੇਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਸਪੋਰਟਿੰਗ ਲਿਸਬਨ ਨਾਲ ਦੋ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕਰਾਰਨਾਮਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਿਜ਼ਰਵ ਟੀਮ ਵਿਚ ਖੇਡਣਗੇ।[17] ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਐਸ.ਸੀ.ਫ੍ਰੀਮੁੰਡੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਸੇਗੁੰਡਾ ਲੀਗਾ ਮੈਚ ਵਿਚ ਟੀਮ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ 85 ਵੇਂ ਮਿੰਟ ਵਿਚ ਆਇਆ ਜਦੋਂ ਸਪੋਰਟਿੰਗ ਸੀਪੀ ਬੀ ਨੇ ਮੈਚ 2-0 ਨਾਲ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ।[18]

13 ਫਰਵਰੀ 2013 ਨੂੰ ਘੋਸ਼ਣਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਖੇਡਣ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਛੇਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੀਜ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਈ ਆਈ-ਲੀਗ ਵਿਚ ਚਰਚਿਲ ਬ੍ਰਦਰਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਜ਼ਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।[19] ਉਸਨੇ ਚਰਚਿਲ ਬ੍ਰਦਰਜ਼ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ 26 ਫਰਵਰੀ 2013 ਨੂੰ ਏ.ਐਫ.ਸੀ. ਕੱਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਚੀ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੈਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਚਰਚਿਲ ਬ੍ਰਦਰਜ਼ 0–3 ਨਾਲ ਹਾਰ ਗਈ ਸੀ।[20] ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਚਰਚਿਲ ਬ੍ਰਦਰਜ਼ ਲਈ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਗੋਲ 12 ਮਾਰਚ 2013 ਨੂੰ ਸੀਮਨ ਪਡਾਂਗ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਗਲੇ ਮੈਚ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਨੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ 27 ਵੇਂ ਮਿੰਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੋਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਚਰਚਿਲ ਬ੍ਰਦਰਜ਼ ਨੇ ਮੈਚ 2-2 ਨਾਲ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।[21] ਸੀਜ਼ਨ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਛੇਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਅੱਠ ਮੈਚਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਰ ਗੋਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਸਨ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸਨੇ ਚਰਚਿਲ ਬ੍ਰਦਰਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਆਈ-ਲੀਗ ਖਿਤਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ।[22]

30 ਮਾਰਚ 2004 ਨੂੰ ਛੇਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਖੇਡ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਅੰਡਰ -20 ਟੀਮ ਲਈ 2004 ਵਿਚ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੀ ਅੰਡਰ -23 ਟੀਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੀ ਸਯੇਫ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੀ ਅੰਡਰ -23 ਟੀਮ 'ਤੇ 1-0 ਦੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਨਾਲ ਖੇਡੀ।[23] 3 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ 2004 ਨੂੰ ਛੇਤਰੀ ਨੇ 2 ਵਾਰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਅੰਡਰ -20 ਟੀਮ ਲਈ ਭੂਟਾਨ ਦੀ ਅੰਡਰ -23 ਟੀਮ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ 4-1 ਨਾਲ ਜਿੱਤ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੀ।[24] 12 ਜੂਨ 2005 ਨੂੰ ਸੁਨੀਲ ਨੇ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਭਾਰਤ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਫੁੱਟਬਾਲ ਟੀਮ ਲਈ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਗੋਲ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।[25]

15 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 2019 ਨੂੰ, ਛੇਤਰੀ ਚੋਟੀ ਦੇ 10 ਫੁੱਟਬਾਲਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਚੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਇਕਲੌਤਾ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਫੁੱਟਬਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਜਿਆਦਾ ਗੋਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ।[26]
