ਹੈਲਨ ਬੈਲਚਰ (ਜਨਮ 30 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 1963) ਇੱਕ ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਕਾਰਕੁੰਨ ਅਤੇ ਲਿਬਰਲ ਡੈਮੋਕਰੇਟ ਰਾਜਨੇਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਐਲ.ਜੀ.ਬੀ.ਟੀ. ਦੇ ਮਸਲਿਆਂ, ਖਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਟਰਾਂਸ ਕਮਿਊਨਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਲਈ 'ਦ ਇੰਡਪੈਡੇਂਟ ਓਨ ਸੰਡੇ' ਦੀ ਰੇਨਬੋ ਲਿਸਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ੀਚਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।[1][2] 2010 ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਨੇ ਟਰਾਂਸ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਵਾਚ ਦੀ ਸਹਿ-ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ,[3] ਜੋ ਟਰਾਂਸ-ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਚੈਰਿਟੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਲਈ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਿਊਜ਼ ਨਾਈਟ 'ਤੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ।[4] ਬੈਲਚਰ ਨੇ 2017 ਦੀਆਂ ਆਮ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਚਿੱਪਨਹੈਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਜ਼ਰਵੇਟਿਵ ਸੀਟ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਸਫ਼ਲ ਚੋਣ ਲੜੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਮਿਸ਼ੇਲ ਡੋਨੇਲਨ ਤੋਂ ਹਾਰ ਗਈ।[5]

ਮੁੱਢਲਾ ਜੀਵਨ[ਸੋਧੋ]

ਬੈਲਚਰ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਰੀਡਿੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਜਿਥੇ ਉਸਨੇ 1984 ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਡਜ਼ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਗ੍ਰੈਜੂਏਟ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਗਰਾਮਰ ਸਕੂਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਸਨੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੋਸਟਨ ਸਪਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਣਿਤ ਦੀ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾ ਵਜੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਪਰ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਸਾੱਫਟਵੇਅਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ 2004 ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਫਟਵੇਅਰ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ।[6]

2012 ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਲਚਰ ਨੇ ਲੇਵਸਨ ਇਨਕੁਆਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਦੇ ਸਭਿਆਚਾਰ, ਅਭਿਆਸਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਨੈਤਿਕਤਾ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸਬੂਤ ਦਿੱਤਾ।[7] ਉਸਨੇ ਸਾਲ 2015 ਵਿੱਚ ਔਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੀ ਟਰਾਂਸ ਬਰਾਬਰਤਾ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ[8] ਅਤੇ 2017 ਵਿੱਚ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਸੰਸਦੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੀ ਬੋਲਣ ਦੀ ਅਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਲਈ ਫਿਰ ਸਬੂਤ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ।[9]

ਟਾਈਮਜ਼ ਨੇ 2018 ਕਮੇਂਟਸ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਜਦੋਂ ਪੈਨਲ ਦੇ ਜੱਜ ਬੈਲਚਰ ਨੇ ਜੈਨਿਸ ਟਰਨਰ ਦੀ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦਗੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਟਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ। ਇਹ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਟਰਨਰ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਵਿਚਲੇ ਕਈ ਲੇਖਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਸੋਨਿਤ ਸੁਧਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿੰਗ ਮਾਨਤਾ ਐਕਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦਲਾਅ ਦਾ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਬੈਲਚਰ ਨੇ ਸੁਝਾਅ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਟਰਾਂਸ ਆਤਮ ਹੱਤਿਆਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਵਾਧਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।[10][11]

ਬੈਲਚਰ 2016 ਵਿੱਚ ਵੋਕਿੰਘਮ ਬੋਰੋ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਚੋਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਬਰਲ ਡੈਮੋਕਰੇਟ ਵਜੋਂ ਚੋਣ ਲੜੀ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਕੰਜ਼ਰਵੇਟਿਵ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਤੋਂ 122 ਵੋਟਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹਾਰ ਗਈ।[12] ਉਸ ਸਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੱਪਨਹੈਮ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਸੀਟ 'ਤੇ ਡੰਕਨ ਹੇਮਜ਼ ਦੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਫਿਰ 2017 ਦੀਆਂ ਆਮ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਜ਼ਰਵੇਟਿਵ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਤੋਂ ਹਾਰ ਗਈ।[5]

ਬੈਲਚਰ ਨੂੰ 2019 ਦੀਆਂ ਆਮ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਲਈ ਚਿੱਪਨਹੈਮ ਦੇ ਲਿਬਰਲ ਡੈਮੋਕਰੇਟ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।[13][14]
