ਕੌਮੀ ਜੰਗ ( Urdu: قومی جنگ , ‘ਪੀਪਲ'ਜ਼ ਵਾਰ’) ਇਕ ਉਰਦੂ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦਾ ਹਫ਼ਤਾਵਾਰੀ ਅਖ਼ਬਾਰ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਯੁੱਧ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਬੰਬੇ ਤੋਂ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਸਟ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ।[1][2][3][4][5][6] ਇਸਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ 1942 ਵਿਚ ਪੀਪਲ'ਜ਼ ਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਉਰਦੂ ਸੰਸਕਰਣ ਵਜੋਂ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ।[7] ਕੌਮੀ ਜੰਗ ਉਰਦੂ ਵਿਚ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦਾ ਅੰਗ ਸੀ।[8]

ਜਦੋਂ ਕੌਮੀ ਜੰਗ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ, ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਸਮਾਜਵਾਦੀ ਲੇਖਕ ਅਖ਼ਬਾਰ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮੁੰਬਈ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ।[8] ਸੱਜਾਦ ਜ਼ਹੀਰ, ਜੋ ਹਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਕੌਮੀ ਜੰਗ ਦਾ ਸੰਪਾਦਕ ਬਣਨ ਲਈ ਬੰਬੇ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।[9][10][11] ਸਿਬਤੇ ਹਸਨ ਮੁਸਲਿਮ ਬੁੱਧੀਜੀਵੀਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇਕ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਬੰਬੇ ਤੋਂ ਕੌਮੀ ਜੰਗ ਦੇ ਕਰਮਚਾਰੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ, ਅਖ਼ਬਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਸੰਪਾਦਕ ਵਜੋਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ।[3][12] ਅਸ਼ਰਫ ਅਲੀ ਖਾਨ ਕੌਮੀ ਜੰਗ ਸਟਾਫ ਦਾ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਸੀ।[1][13] ਸਆਦਤ ਹਸਨ ਮੰਟੋ ਕੌਮੀ ਜੰਗ ਦੇ ਲੇਖਕਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇਕ ਸੀ।[6] ਮੰਟੋ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਛੋਟੀਆਂ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ ਕੌਮੀ ਜੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਹੋਈਆਂ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਕਾਲੀ ਸ਼ਲਵਾਰ, ਧੂਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੂ ਆਦਿ।

ਇਕ ਹੋਰ ਉਰਦੂ ਕਵੀ, ਕੈਫੀ ਆਜ਼ਮੀ 1943 ਵਿਚ ਕੌਮੀ ਜੰਗ ਲਈ ਲਿਖਣਾ ਅਰੰਭ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਬੰਬੇ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਸਨ।[14]

26 ਮਈ, 1945 ਨੂੰ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਂਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਤਹਿਤ ਪੀਪਲ'ਜ਼ ਵਾਰ, ਕੌਮੀ ਜੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਯੁੱਧ ਦੀ ਵਿਕਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਵੰਡ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾਬੰਦੀ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ, ਇਹ ਹਵਾਲਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿ ਅਖ਼ਬਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਪੱਖਪਾਤੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਸਨ।[15][16]

ਦੂਜੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਯੁੱਧ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਕੌਮੀ ਜੰਗ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਨਯਾ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਾ ('ਨਵਾਂ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਾ)' ਨੂੰ ਨਵੀਂ ਉਰਦੂ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਅੰਗ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ।[2]
