), (ਜਨਮ 15 ਮਈ, 1961) ਭਾਰਤੀ ਜਨਤਾ ਪਾਰਟੀ (ਬੀ.ਜੇ.ਪੀ) ਇੱਕ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸਿਆਸਤਦਾਨ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਨਵੇਂ ਗਠਿਤ ਨੌਰਥ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਮਿਉਂਸਪਲ ਕਾਰਪੋਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਮੇਅਰ ਹੈ।[1] ਉਹ 1998 ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਮੇਅਰ (ਐਮ.ਸੀ.ਡੀ) ਦੇ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਲਈ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਐਲ.ਐਲ.ਬੀ. ਡਿਗਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਇੱਕ ਸਿਆਸਤਦਾਨ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਤਿੰਨ ਵਾਰ ਕੌਂਸਲਰ ਰਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਵਨ ਪਾਰਕ ਵਾਰਡ ਤੋਂ ਚੁਣੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ।[2]

ਆਰੰਭਕ ਜੀਵਨ[ਸੋਧੋ]

ਮੀਰਾ ਅਗਰਵਾਲ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਧਾਨੀ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ 'ਚ ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ, ਲੈਫਟੀਨੈਂਟ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ. ਲਾਲਾ ਰਾਮ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਗੁਪਤਾ, ਇੱਕ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਘੁਲਾਟੀਆ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਸਵੈ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੰਘ (ਆਰ.ਐਸ.ਐਸ.) ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਅਤੇ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਸਮਾਜ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੀ।[3] ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤੀ ਸਕੂਲੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਗਵਰਨਮੈਂਟ ਗਰਲਜ਼ ਹਾਇਰ ਸਕੂਲ, ਮਾਡਲ ਟਾਊਨ ਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ। ਫਿਰ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖਲਾ ਲਿਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਲਾਅ ਸੈਂਟਰ ਤੋਂ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਪਾਸ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਹ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੀ ਹਾਈ ਕੋਰਟ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਐਡਵੋਕੇਟ ਸੀ। ਮੀਰਾ ਅਗਰਵਾਲ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਅਖਿਲ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਸ਼ਦ (ਏ.ਬੀ.ਵੀ.ਪੀ.) ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇੱਕ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਤੇ ਉਹ ਜਨਤਕ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਬੋਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਸੀ।
