ਅਬੁ ਰੇਹਾਨ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ ਬਿਨ ਅਹਿਮਦ ਅਲਬਰੂਨੀ (ਫ਼ਾਰਸੀ-ਅਰਬੀ: ابوریحان محمد بن احمد بیرونی ਭਾਵ ਕਿ ਅਬੂ ਰੇਹਾਨ, ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਹਿਮਦ ਅਲਬਰੂਨੀ) ਜਾਂ ਅਲਬੇਰੂਨੀ (973 - 1048) ਇੱਕ ਫ਼ਾਰਸੀ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਲੇਖਕ, ਵਿਗਿਆਨੀ, ਖਗੋਲ-ਸ਼ਾਸ਼ਤਰੀ, ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕਾਰ, ਧਰਮਸ਼ਾਸਤਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਰਸ਼ਨਿਕ ਸੀ। ਅਲ ਬੇਰੂਨੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਅਰਬੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਫ਼ਾਰਸੀ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਘੱਟ ਤੋਂ ਘੱਟ ਤਿੰਨ ਹੋਰ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਸੀ - ਸੀਰੀਆਈ, ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤ, ਯੂਨਾਨੀ।
ਉਹ 1017-20 ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਭਾਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੀਲੰਕਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਤੇ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ। ਗਜਨੀ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਮੂਦ (ਮਹਿਮੂਦ ਗਜਨਵੀ), ਜਿਸਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਤੇ 17 ਵਾਰ ਹਮਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ, ਦੇ ਕਈ ਅਭਿਆਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਸੁਲਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ। ਅਲਬਰੁਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਜਾਣਕਾਰ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
