ਕਜ਼ਾਖ਼ ਮੱਧ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰੀ ਭਾਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਇੱਕ ਤੁਰਕੀ ਬੋਲਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਜਾਤੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ। ਕਜ਼ਾਖ਼ਸਤਾਨ ਦੀ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਅਬਾਦੀ ਏਸੇ ਨਸਲ ਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਕਜ਼ਾਖ਼ ਲੋਕ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਉਜ਼ਬੇਕਿਸਤਾਨ, ਮੰਗੋਲੀਆ, ਰੂਸ ਅਤੇ ਚੀਨ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਿਨਜਿਆਂਗ ਵਿੱਚ। ਦੁਨੀਆ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ 1.3 ਤੋਂ 1.5 ਕਰੋੜ ਲੋਕ ਕਜ਼ਾਖ਼ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਹੁਤਿਆਂ ਮਾਂ-ਬੋਲੀ ਕਜ਼ਾਖ਼ ਹੈ। ਕਜ਼ਾਖ਼ ਲੋਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤੁਰਕੀ ਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵੰਸ਼ਜ ਹਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਅਰਗਿਨ, ਖ਼ਜ਼ਰ ਲੋਕ, ਕਾਰਲੁਕ, ਕਿਪਚਕ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਮਨ। ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਝ ਹੱਦ ਤੱਕ ਮੱਧ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਇਰਾਨੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਬੋਲਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਕ, ਸਕਿਥਿਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਮਤੀ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਸਨ। ਕਜ਼ਾਖ਼ ਲੋਕ ਸਾਇਬੇਰੀਆ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਣ ਸਾਗਰ ਤੱਕ ਫੈਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਰਕੀ-ਮੰਗੋਲ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਹੋਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਮੱਧ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਸੇ ਰਹੇ।

ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਣਤਰ[ਸੋਧੋ]

ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਜ਼ਾਖ਼ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ ਸਰੋਤ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮਤਭੇਦ ਹਨ। ਕੁਝ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਤੁਰਕੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਜ਼ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਘੁਮੱਕੜ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਕਜ਼ਾਖ਼ ਲੋਕ ਸਤੈਪੀ ਖੇਤਰ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਾਨਾਬਦੋਸ਼ ਸਨ। ਹੋਰ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਮੰਗੋਲ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਸਕ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕਿ ਸਮਾਨ ਲਿਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਪਹੀਏ ਵਾਲੀ ਗੱਡੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਜ਼ਾਖ਼ ਲੋਕ ਸਤੈਪੀ ਉੱਪਰ ਇੱਕ ਥਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਜੀ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਤੀਜੀ ਰਾਏ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਚੀਨ ਤੁਰਕੀ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਕਜ਼ਗ਼ਾਕ ਤੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਹੈ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਜਾਂ ਮਿਲਾਉਣਾ, ਮਤਲਬ ਕਿ ਕਜ਼ਗ਼ਾਕ ਉਹ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਫ਼ਾਇਦਾ ਲੱਭੇ।[23][24][25]

ਕਜ਼ਾਖ਼ ਲੋਕ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੰਗੋਲ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਲਕਾ ਯੂਰਪੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਵੀ ਵਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਹੁਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਲ ਕਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਭੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਕੁਝ ਕਜ਼ਾਖ਼ਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨੀਲੀਆਂ-ਹਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਲ ਲਾਲ-ਭੂਰੇ ਵੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਗੋਰਾ ਜਾਂ ਹਲਕਾ ਕਣਕ-ਵੰਨਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਜੈਨੇਟਿਕ ਨਜ਼ਰੀਏ ਨਾਲ 55% ਕਜ਼ਾਖ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਵੰਸ਼ ਏਸ਼ੀਆਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈਪਲੋਗਰੁੱਪ ਡੀ, ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ੈੱਡ 36.2% ਹਨ, ਹੈਪਲੋਗਰੁੱਪ ਏ, ਏੱਫ਼ 6.9% ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਏਸ਼ੀਆਈ ਹੈਪਲੋਗਰੁੱਪ ਸਮੂਹ 11.9% ਹਨ। 41% ਕਜ਼ਾਖ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੈਪਲੋਗਰੁੱਪ ਸਮੂਹ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਯੂਰੇਸ਼ੀਆ ਤੋਂ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈਪਲੋਗਰੁੱਪ ਐੱਚ (14.1%), ਕੇ. (2.6%), ਜੇ (3.6%), ਟੀ (5.5%), ਯੂ (3%) ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਮੂਹ (12.2%) ਹਨ।

ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਕਜ਼ਾਖ਼ ਲੋਕ ਸੁੰਨੀ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਜ਼ਾਖ਼ ਇਸਲਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਤੱਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਜ਼ਰ, ਤਵੀਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਝਾੜ-ਫੂਕ(ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਦੀਆਂ ਰਸਮਾਂ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹਨ।[26]
