    ਕੋਰੀਆਈ ਯੁੱਧ (ਦੱਖਣ ਕੋਰੀਆ:한국전쟁; ਹਾਂਨਜਾ: 韓國戰爭;  ਉੱਤਰ ਕੋਰੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਂਗਗੁਲ: 조국해방전쟁; ਹੰਚਾ: 祖國解放戰爭; ਐਮਆਰ: " ਫ਼ਾਦਰਲੈਂਡ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਜੰਗ"; 25 ਜੂਨ 1950 – 27 ਜੁਲਾਈ 1953)[35][36] ਉਦੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਦੋਂ ਉੱਤਰ ਕੋਰੀਆ ਨੇ ਦੱਖਣ ਕੋਰੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ।[37][38] ਕੋਰਿਆਈ ਯੁੱਧ ਸੀਤ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੜਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਯੁੱਧ ਸੀ। ਇੱਕ ਤਰਫ ਉੱਤਰ ਕੋਰੀਆ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਸੋਵਿਅਤ ਸੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਚੀਨ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ, ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਦੱਖਣ ਕੋਰੀਆ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਯੁੱਧ ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋਇਆ ਪਰ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਤਨਾਵ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਧ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਲੜਾਈ 27 ਜੁਲਾਈ 1953 ਨੂੰ ਖਤਮ ਹੋਈ ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਸਮਝੌਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ। ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਮੰਤਰਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇਸ ਲੜਾਈ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ 33,686 ਸੈਨਿਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ 2,830 ਆਮ ਨਾਗਰਿਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ। 1 ਨਵੰਬਰ 1950 ਨੂੰ ਚੀਨ ਦਾ ਸਾਮਣਾ ਕਰਣ ਉੱਤੇ ਸੈਨਿਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ 8,516 ਵੱਧ ਗਈ।[39] ਦੱਖਣ ਕੋਰੀਆ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਲੜਾਈ ਨਾਲ ਉਸਦੇ 3, 73, 599 ਆਮ ਨਾਗਰਿਕ ਅਤੇ 1, 37, 899 ਫੌਜੀ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ। ਪੱਛਮੀ ਸਰੋਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਚਾਰ ਲੱਖ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਅਤੇ 4, 86, 000 ਲੋਕ ਜਖ਼ਮੀ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ। ਕੇਪੀਏ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ 2,15, 000 ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਅਤੇ 3, 03, 000 ਲੋਕ ਜਖ਼ਮੀ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।[40]

    ਦੂਜੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਯੁੱਧ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਮ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿੱਤਰ-ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਤੈਅ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਜਾਪਾਨੀ ਆਤਮ-ਸਮਰਪਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਸੋਵਿਅਤ ਫੌਜ ਉੱਤਰੀ ਕੋਰਿਆ ਦੇ 38 ਉਹ ਅਕਸ਼ਾਂਸ਼ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਸੰਘ ਦੀ ਫੌਜ ਇਸ ਲਕੀਰ ਦੇ ਦੱਖਣ ਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਕਰੇਗੀ। ਦੋਨਾਂ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ “ਅੰਤਰਿਮ ਕੋਰਿਆਈ ਪਰਜਾਤੰਤਰੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ” ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਲਈ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਪਰ 25 ਜੂਨ, 1950 ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰੀ ਕੋਰਿਆ ਨੇ ਦੱਖਣ ਕੋਰੀਆ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਦਿਨ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਪਰਿਸ਼ਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੋਵਿਅਤ ਗੈਰ-ਹਾਜਰੀ ਦਾ ਫਾਇਦਾ ਚੁੱਕਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਨੇ ਹੋਰ ਮੈਬਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉੱਤਰੀ ਕੋਰਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਹਮਲਾਵਰ ਐਲਾਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਪਰਿਸ਼ਦ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਿਫਾਰਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਸੰਘ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਕੋਰਿਆਈ ਲੋਕ-ਰਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਹਥਿਆਰਬੰਦ ਹਮਲੇ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ 7 ਜੁਲਾਈ, 1950 ਨੂੰ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਜਨਰਲ ਮੈਕਾਰਥਰ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਸੰਘ ਦੇ ਝੰਡੇ ਦੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਕਮਾਨ ਦਾ ਗਠਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।

    ਪਰ ਸੋਵਿਅਤ ਸੰਘ ਨੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਪਰਿਸ਼ਦ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਗ ਲੈਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਰਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਸੰਘ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ “ਵੀਟੋ” ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸਦੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਵਜੋਂ 3 ਨਵੰਬਰ, 1950 ਨੂੰ ਮਹਾਸਭਾ ਨੇ “ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਲਈ ਏਕਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਸਤਾਵ” ਪਾਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਆਪ ਲੈ ਲਈ। ਫਲਸਰੂਪ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਅਤੇ ਚੀਨੀ ਸੇਨਾਵਾਂ ਕੋਰਿਆਈ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਲਝ ਪਈਆਂ। ਅੰਤ ਭਾਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਕੁੱਝ ਹੋਰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ 27 ਜੁਲਾਈ, 1953 ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋਨਾਂ ਪੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੜਾਈ ਵਿਰਾਮ-ਸੰਧੀ ਹੋਈ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਕੋਰਿਆ ਲੜਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਸੰਘ ਰੋਕਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਫਲ ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਂਜ ਉੱਤਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੱਖਣ ਕੋਰਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਸੀ ਤਨਾਵ ਜਾਰੀ ਰਿਹਾ।

    ਯੂਐਸ ਵਿੱਚ, ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਹੈਰੀ ਐਸ ਤਰੁਮਾਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇੱਕ "ਪੁਲਿਸ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ" ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿਓਂਕੀ ਫੌਜ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਲੜਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਘੋਸ਼ਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਐਂਗਲੋਸ਼ਫੇਅਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸਨੂੰ "ਦੀ ਫ਼ਾਰਗਾਟਨ ਵਾਰ" ਅਤੇ "ਦੀ ਅਨਨੋਨ ਵਾਰ" ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿਓਂਕਿ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇਣ ਇਸ ਲੜਾਈ ਦੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਘੱਟ ਧਿਆਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ।
