ਐਬੀ ਸਟੇਨ (ਜਨਮ 1 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 1991)[1] ਇੱਕ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਟਰਾਂਸਜੈਂਡਰ ਲੇਖਕ, ਕਾਰਕੁੰਨ,[2] ਬਲੌਗਰ,[3] ਮਾਡਲ, ਰੱਬੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਪੀਕਰ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਹੈਸੀਡਿਕ ਕਮਿਊਨਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਟਰਾਂਸਜੈਂਡਰ ਔਰਤ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੈਸੀਡਿਕ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਥਾਪਕ ਬਾਲ ਸ਼ੇਮ ਤੋਵ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਵੰਸ਼ ਹੈ।[4] 2015 ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਨੇ ਆਰਥੋਡਾਕਸ ਪਿਛੋਕੜ ਦੇ ਟਰਾਂਸ-ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਸਮੂਹ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ।[5]

ਸਟੇਨ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਔਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਟਰਾਂਸਜੈਂਡਰ ਔਰਤ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਆਰਥੋਡਾਕਸ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਟਰਾਂਸਜੈਂਡਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ 2011 ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਰੱਬੀ ਦੀ ਡਿਗਰੀ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤੀ।[6] ਉਸਨੇ ਘੱਟੋ ਘੱਟ 2016 ਤੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਰੱਬੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।[7]

ਮੁੱਢਲਾ ਜੀਵਨ[ਸੋਧੋ]

ਸਟੇਨ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 1991 ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਲੀਅਮਸਬਰਗ, ਬਰੁਕਲਿਨ, ਨਿਊ ਯਾਰਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਹੈਸੀਡਿਕ ਨੇਤਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ 13 ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ 6 ਵਾਂ ਬੱਚਾ ਹੈ।[8] ਉਸਦਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਪੋਲਿਸ਼, ਯੂਕ੍ਰੇਨੀਅਨ / ਰੋਮਾਨੀਆ, ਸਰਬੀਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਇਜ਼ਰਾਈਲੀ ਮੂਲ ਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਯੂਕ੍ਰੇਨ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਹੈ।[9] ਉਹ ਯਿੱਦੀਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਇਬਰਾਨੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਬੋਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਰਵਾਇਤੀ ਮੁੰਡਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਦਿਵਸ ਸਕੂਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ, ਜਿਸ ਕਮਿਊਨਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਅਲੱਗ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸਨੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਲਗਭਗ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਹਿਲੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਤ ਕੀਤਾ।[10] ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਾਈ ਸਕੂਲ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਕਿਆਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਲੇਕ, ਅਪਸਟੇਟ ਨਿਊਯਾਰਕ[11] ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਜ਼ਨੀਜ਼ ਯੀਸ਼ਿਵਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਇੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਰੱਬੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਆਰਡੀਨੈਂਸ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ।[12] 2012 ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਨੇ ਹੈਸੀਡਿਕ ਕਮਿਊਨਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ (ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਅਕਸਰ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਕਮਿਊਨਟੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ " ਡੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਾਣ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਅਤੇ 2014 ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਨੇ ਕੋਲੰਬੀਆ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਸਕੂਲ ਆਫ਼ ਜਨਰਲ ਸਟੱਡੀਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਕੂਲ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਕੈਰੀਅਰ[ਸੋਧੋ]

ਐਬੀ ਸਟੇਨ ਯੂ.ਸੀ. ਬਰਕਲੇ 'ਚ ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ 2016 ਨੂੰ

ਨਵੰਬਰ 2015 ਵਿੱਚ ਸਟੇਨ ਨੇ ਸੁਰਖੀਆਂ ਬਟੋਰੀਆਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਲੌਗ 'ਤੇ ਟਰਾਂਸਜੈਂਡਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਈ[13] ਅਤੇ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਆਊਟਲੈਟਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ੀਚਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਊਯਾਰਕ ਟਾਈਮਜ਼,[14] ਨਿਊ ਯਾਰਕ ਪੋਸਟ,[15] ਨਿਊ ਯਾਰਕ ਮੈਗਜ਼ੀਨ,[16] ਐਨ.ਬੀ.ਸੀ,[17] ਡੇਲੀ ਡੌਟ[18] ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਟੀ.ਵੀ. ਉੱਤੇ ਸੀ.ਐਨ.ਐਨ,[19] ਫੌਕਸ ਨਿਊਜ਼,[20][21] ਹਫ਼ਪੋਸਟ ਲਾਈਵ[20] ਅਤੇ ਵਾਈਸ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ।[22] ਉਹ ਕਈ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਟੀ.ਵੀ. ਨੈਟਵਰਕਸ ਅਤੇ 20 ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਅੰਤਰ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਅਖ਼ਬਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਰਸਾਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਜਾਹਿਰ ਹੋਈ।[23][24][25][26][27]

ਜਦੋਂ ਸਟੇਨ ਨੇ 2012 ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਭਾਈਚਾਰਾ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਸਤਿਕ ਵਜੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਆਈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ "ਤੁਸੀਂ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਵੀ ਹੋ, ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਹੋ।" ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਟਰਾਂਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਆਈ, ਉਸਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ "ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਕਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।"[28] ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨੀ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ।[29] ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਕਮਿਊਨਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਵੀ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ[30] ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਚੇਜ਼ਿੰਗ ਨਿਊਜ਼ (ਇੱਕ ਫੌਕਸ ਨਿਊਜ਼ ਸ਼ੌਰਟ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਕੰਪਨੀ) ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਇੰਟਰਵਿਊ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਘੱਟ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਮਿਲੀ ਸੀ।[21]

ਸਟੇਨ ਨੂੰ 2016 ਦੀ ਸ਼ੋਅਟਾਈਮ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜ਼ੀ ਲੜੀ 'ਡਾਰਕ ਨੈਟ ' ਦੇ ਐਪੀਸੋਡ 8 -"ਰਿਵਾਲਟ" ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।[31]

ਨਾਮ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ[ਸੋਧੋ]

4 ਜੂਨ, 2016 ਨੂੰ ਸਟੇਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਦਾ ਜਸ਼ਨ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਊਯਾਰਕ ਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਉੱਪਰੀ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਪਾਸੇ ਦੇ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕ ਇੱਕ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਨਵੀਨੀਕਰਣ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਰੋਮਿਯੂ ਵਿਖੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਐਬੀ ਚਾਵਾ ਸਟੇਨ ਰੱਖ ਲਿਆ।[32][33] ਦ ਹਫਿੰਗਟਨ ਪੋਸਟ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਇੱਕ ਇੰਟਰਵਿਊ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦੀ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਦਾ ਜਸ਼ਨ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਨਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਸੀ:

ਆਪਣੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਜਾਹਿਰ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸਟੇਨ ਨੇ ਆਰਥੋਡਾਕਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੋਕੜ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਦੀਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਹੇਲਪਲਾਈਨ ਸਪੋਰਟ ਸਮੂਹ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਨਵੰਬਰ 2015 ਤੱਕ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ 20 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਸਨ।[31] ਸਟੇਨ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਫੇਸਬੁੱਕ ਅਤੇ ਅਨਲਾਈਨ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਕਮਿਊਨਟੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਰੇਖਾ ਬਣੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਨਲਾਈਨ ਕਮਿਊਨਟੀ ਦੀ ਸਕਾਰਾਤਮਕ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਅਹਿਸਾਸ ਹੋਇਆ।[34]

ਦਸੰਬਰ 2015 ਵਿੱਚ ਸਟੇਨ ਨੇ ਆਰਥੋਡਾਕਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੋਕੜ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਸਮੂਹ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ।[35] ਸਮੂਹ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਬੈਠਕ ਵਿੱਚ 12 ਲੋਕ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈਸਿਡਸ ਆਪਣੀ ਲਿੰਗ ਪਛਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।[36] ਸਟੇਨ ਦੇ ਏਵਿਡ ਬਲੌਗਿੰਗ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਅਨੁਸਰਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਅਤਿ-ਕੱਟੜਪੰਥੀ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਐਲ.ਜੀ.ਬੀ.ਟੀ.ਕਿਊ. ਅਤੇ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਰੋਲ ਮਾਡਲ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ।[37]

ਆਪਣੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਜਾਹਿਰ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸਟੇਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਅਤੇ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਈ ਮਾਡਲਿੰਗ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਵੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸਾਈਟਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।[38] ਉਸਨੇ ਰਿਫ਼ਾਇਨਰੀ 29 ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ "ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ [ਸ਼ੂਟਿੰਗ] ਪਸੰਦ ਸੀ, ਇਸਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਆਰਾਮਦਾਇਕ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ," ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।[39] 2018 ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਫੈਸ਼ਨ ਮੈਗਜ਼ੀਨਾਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਵੋਗ[40] ਅਤੇ ਇਨਸਟਾਈਲ ਨਾਲ ਕਈ ਫੋਟੋ ਸ਼ੂਟ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਡਲਿੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਵੀ ਕੀਤੇ।[41]
