ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਨਸਲੀ ਸਮੂਹ[lower-alpha 1] ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਚੀਨੀ, ਕੋਰੀਅਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਪਾਨੀ ਹਨ।[5] ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਨਸਲੀ ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਈਨੂ, ਬਾਈ, ਮਾਨਚੁਸ, ਮੰਗੋਲ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਮੰਗੋਲਿਕ ਲੋਕ, ਨਿਵਖ, ਕਿਆਂਗ, ਰਿਯੂਕਯੂਆਨ, ਤਿੱਬਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਕੁਟਸ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ।[6][7]

ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆਈ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਸਿਨੀਟਿਕ,[lower-alpha 2] ਜਾਪੋਨਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਰੀਅਨ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਹਨ।[8][9][10] ਹੋਰ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਿੱਬਤੀ-ਬਰਮਨ, ਆਇਨੂ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ, ਮੰਗੋਲਿਕ, ਤੁੰਗਸਿਕ, ਤੁਰਕੀ, ਹਮੋਂਗ-ਮੀਅਨ, ਤਾਈ-ਕਦਾਈ, ਆਸਟ੍ਰੋਨੇਸ਼ੀਅਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੋਏਸੀਆਟਿਕ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ।[11]

ਯੁੱਗਾਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ, ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ 'ਤੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਚੀਨ ਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਇਸਦੇ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਦੀ ਮਿਆਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਮ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਸਿਨੋਸਫੀਅਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੰਗੋਲੀਆ ਦੇ ਅਪਵਾਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆਈ ਸਭਿਅਤਾ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਹ ਰੱਖੀ।[12] ਚੀਨੀ ਸੰਸਕ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਨੇ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਅਤੇ ਸਭਿਅਤਾ ਦੀ ਬੁਨਿਆਦ ਵਜੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ, ਸਗੋਂ ਇਸਦੇ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆਈ ਗੁਆਂਢੀਆਂ, ਜਾਪਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਰੀਆ ਲਈ ਵੀ।[13] ਚੀਨੀ ਸਭਿਅਤਾ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਚੀਨੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਦੇ ਕਲਾਸਿਕ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਸਭਿਅਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਹ ਵਜੋਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਚੀਨ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਹਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿਸ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕਨਫਿਊਸ਼ੀਅਨ ਨੈਤਿਕ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ, ਚੀਨੀ ਕੈਲੰਡਰ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀਆਂ, ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀਆਂ, ਆਰਕੀਟੈਕਚਰਲ ਸ਼ੈਲੀ, ਖੁਰਾਕ, ਸ਼ਬਦਾਵਲੀ, ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ, ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ, ਸਾਮਰਾਜੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਜੋ ਚੀਨੀ ਕਲਾਸਿਕ, ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ 'ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ, ਨੂੰ ਅਪਣਾਇਆ। ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਜਾਪਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਰੀਆ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਬਿੰਬਤ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਲਿਖਤ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕਰਨਾ।[14][15][16][12][17][18][19] ਚੀਨ ਅਤੇ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ 'ਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਸਬੰਧਾਂ ਦੀ ਤੁਲਨਾ ਯੂਰਪ ਅਤੇ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ 'ਤੇ ਗ੍ਰੀਕੋ-ਰੋਮਨ ਸਭਿਅਤਾ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।[18] ਚੀਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜਪਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਰੀਆ ਵੱਲ ਨਿਰਯਾਤ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਤਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਂਝੀਆਂ ਚੀਨੀ -ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਤਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਕਨਫਿਊਸ਼ਿਅਨਵਾਦ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਸਮਾਨ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਨੈਤਿਕ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੰਗੋਲੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਸਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਬਾਕੀ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਮੱਧ ਏਸ਼ੀਆਈ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਕਜ਼ਾਖ, ਕਿਰਗਿਜ਼ ਅਤੇ ਉਜ਼ਬੇਕ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਹੈ।[19][17][20]

ਹਾਨ ਚੀਨੀ ਪਾਤਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਿਪੀ ਲੰਬੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ (ਮੰਗੋਲੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਵਿੱਚ ਚੀਨੀ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆਈ ਗੁਆਂਢੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਰਯਾਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਧਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਇਕਸਾਰ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਤਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।[20] ਚੀਨੀ ਅੱਖਰ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੌਕਰਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵੇ ਦੀ ਏਕੀਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਬਣ ਗਏ।[20] ਚੀਨੀ ਲਿਪੀ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕੋਰੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਜਾਪਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਇਹ ਜਾਪਾਨੀ ਲਿਖਣ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੈ। ਕੋਰੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ, ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ, ਸੇਜੋਂਗ ਮਹਾਨ ਨੇ ਹੰਗੁਲ ਵਰਣਮਾਲਾ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਉਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੋਰੀਅਨ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਲਈ ਮੁੱਖ ਆਰਥੋਗ੍ਰਾਫਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਵਰਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।[21] ਜਾਪਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ, ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਜਾਪਾਨੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਚੀਨੀ ਅੱਖਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਹੀਰਾਗਾਨਾ, ਕਾਟਾਕਾਨਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਮੰਗੋਲੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ, ਉੱਥੇ ਵਰਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਲਿਪੀ ਮੰਗੋਲੀਆਈ ਲਿਪੀ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਰਿਲਿਕ ਲਿਪੀ ਹੈ।[19]
